First movements were at about 14 weeks with DD. Then nothing really (I had an anterior placenta) until around 19 or 20 weeks from memory.

This time, I have had pretty steady movement starting with fluttering around 11 weeks and then gradually building up to pretty solid kicks and wriggling now at 27 weeks.

It seemed like DD was a lot stronger a lot earlier, but that could just be my memory playing tricks on me.

Both of my babies have had very vigorous movement between about 9 and 10.30 at night, but totally different habits during the day. DD also used to get the hiccups five or six times a day.

Yeah, it's really awesome when it's happening a lot, daily, and especially when they do it at pretty consistent times so you know when it's coming!

I used to like it right towards the end, when she didn't have much room and would really just be wriggling pretty constantly when she was awake. I used to be able to lower her heartrate by patting her on the bum - her bum used to stick out my left side quite a lot. Once, I hadn't felt much for a couple of days so I went to get her heartbeat monitored, and I watched what happened when I patted vs when I didn't. It was so awesome.

She also used to poke her feet out quite a lot so I'd poke them back in, and then she'd poke them out somewhere else. It turned into a game and I loved it. It's a really beautiful way to bond with your baby before it's born.

Just wait until you can see their body parts sticking out of your tummy (you can't make out what they are, they're just kind of pointy lumps), or watching your skin stretch and move and the kicks making your tummy jump out like a mouse under a blanket. It's the coolest thing ever.
