Default stressing out about fetal movement

Hi girls, I don't know if I am just being paranoid.

I;m 38 weeks pregnant and haven't felt bub move today at all. He is not overly active at the best of times but nothing all day is unusual.

His movements have seemed to slow down heaps over the past 2 weeks...is this normal leading up to labour ? Has anyone else experienced this. Obviously if I don't get anything by tonight I'll call the hospital but just wanting other opinions ?

    Thanks so much.

Try drinking a cold drink - usually bub will move after that.

They do slow down as they get older because there is not much room to move.

My DD did not move much for the last few weeks but drinking a cold icy drink helped.

If you are really worried and have felt no movement then contact your doc/hospital and they can do a quick check up.

Have an orange or something sugary and some ice cold water and see what happens.

Have you tried having a juice or something a laying down to see if that gets bub moving?

They do quieten down a bit towards the end but if you are really worried or it's not normal for your bubs then I'd go and see someone if it will help put your mind at ease.

    Good Luck

not even when poked.. like push in to feel bub..

i wouldnt wait if you cant feel bub moving.. go and get the heart rate checked.. if it is a problem (and i hope it isnt) its best to act quickly

hi i would think there is nothig wrong. baby is running out of room, and also resting for the hard work ahead to make the journey down the birth canal. If you are really woried, like others have said, have a cold drink or a relaxing soak in the bath. I remeber a couple of times just sitting quitely on my bed and giving my tummy a rub and bub would kick my hand away, just to say dont worry im ok. Marie.

    bub moving yet...
even putting some pressure on your belly to see if there is a kick or any movement...

if you cant get bub to move, or kick, please go and have it checked out

I had concerns with how much Keiara moved towards the end and the hospital gave me a chart to keep track of, every time I felt movement write it down.

She was meant to move at least 10 times a day.

Try the cold drink and moving your belly and yes the baby is runny out of room and does slow down towards the end.

I would go to the doctor and ask him to listen to the heart beat.
Be careful when letting go of things you think mean nothing to you, You just might end up looking back and realising you let go of something you wanted after all...

linmum my bubs has gone from 1000's of movements a day down to sometimes just over 10 in the past two weeks as well... I even just had ice-cream and didnt even get a reaction, poking no longer works for me either...

So reduced movement can be completely normal, but u should still be feeling some movement... I actually notice i can often feel more through my hand than just waiting to 'feel' it in my tummy.

Is ur DH around? My bubs always seems to wake up when DH says hello to it.

Hopefully nothing's wrong but if u dont feel anything soon go get it checked out. At this stage i think it's completely normal for women to go to hospital to be checked out.

Thanks so much for your replies girls..and your advice.

So i lay down and poked him a bit and nothing.

Then I had an ice cream ( thanks trixi ) and then a lemonade with ice in it and got two big rolling movements around my tummy, since then 30 mins ago nothing.

Do you think he might be having a really deep sleep ?

Now that I have felt something do I just wait and see. Like I said he never has been a big mover, and he was active last night.
