Default Weird question... Does cat de-sexing always work?

The first time our kitty went on heat we had her de-sexed, but the next year around the same time we had nextdoor's male cat at the backdoor every day. He disappeared over the next ten months or so but has come back the same time this year. She is also calling as if she is on heat So as stupid as this sounds is it possible that she could still be on heat?

Not sure if she could just get that way sometimes, but with cat desexing they actually remove all their parts, not like humans. So she can't get pregnant, she'd have no ovaries or anything.

Clearly I'm no expert but could they have left tissue or an ovary behind or something?

Well, if they have, you could make them responsible for any kittens that come of it. It's so expensive desexing, you'd hope they would do it right, they are doctors after all.

Oh she is an indoor cat so no worries about kittens, though she has been super keen on escaping to the great outdoors this last week or so

We had a very bad experience with the vet who did her op, I would never go back there. He said she the most vicious cat he'd ever seen She's no angel granted, but she's not that bad. She was emotionally scarred after that vet visit too. Never ever wanted to go in the car again for fear of going to the vet again I believe. This from a cat who calmly sat on my lap in the car for ten hours

Vets actually remove the whole lot. They cut through the abdomen and cut off each ovary and stitch the opening, they do both ovaries, remove them and throw them in the bin. Your kitty should still have a womb but no eggs, she is still a female cat, she still has female hormones (she feels like she is on heat, its an animal thing) but she CANNOT fall pregnant. Unless the vets did a tubal ligation and charged you $250 for it, then you wont have kitties. I used to be a vet assistant and sat and watched many many many procedures like this, they do the same thing every time. Dont be worried

    That's a male thing alright

My dog was desexed at 4 months as he had undescended testicles that were becoming cancerous, yet he still went on to hump everything in sight! My puppy will be done at 6 months, has no problems and isn't humping things yet. Some things can be put down to them being male
