    Default Bottle weaning?

    When to wean from bottle?

Some say wean from the breast b4 12 months so what do they have a bottle til... or just food?

Personally I believe in self weaning.
I had to wean my girl at 11 mths due to teeth and biting
but I gave her a bottle with cows milk but it only lasted a couple weeks.
    I have breastfed 3x

after 12 months the child can drink from a sippy cup, easy as that
Me = Lauren, DH = Jamie.
    The kiddies = Dion (8), Calista (5)
    Jye, (4) Dakota (2). and Lillah (3months).

I voted 18-24 months. My DD was very hard to wean from a bottle only because she didn't have a strong enough suck to drink from the non spill cups and she would tip the milk out of the ones that were not non spill. that said she still drinks from sippy cups as she hasn't yet mastered the cup thing.

As I said before I pick around 5 years of age because that is when the child is at school and having a bottle could cause alot of teasing from peers in school at this age.

I chose 3-4 yrs as its easier at the moment for dd to have a bottle as she just tips the milk out of the sipper cup.I dont know when i will wean her mayby ill wait ill she weans herself.

I was always one of those non-mothers who said a child should be off the bottle by 12mths !!!
Boy does that make me laugh now !

16mths later & we have just managed to take the lunch bottle away & use a sippy cup
He even uses a sippy cup for water now !!!!! Yes this may seem strange that im so excited but i had a child who refused to drink from a sippy cup & i mean ANY sippy cup we have 7 different types as well as a straw !!!! None did the trick !!! Luckily a few weeks ago while away on a little holiday Boof saw Mama drinking from a Pump water bottle & he wanted to try to which he loved it so we bought him a little one to use then last week we kept persisting with a sippy cup which finally worked !!!
We now plan to start weaning him off the bedtime bottle in the next few weeks but if he wants to keep that then fine its a comfort & if a child was still b/feeding we wouldnt deny them this.
So i guess i chose 3-4yrs because every child is different & i think again like b/feeding when they want to wean themselves they should be allowed to do so !

I said 18mo - 24mo... probably close to 24 mo and the only reasoning is that I watch my SIL give her bubs a bottle to take to bed so that's the 'norm' for me to see. I don't know that I want to do that myself as I'm not near that stage but yeah

Hi! I voted 12-18 months but to be honest I have no idea I guess I should really know because my DS is nearly 8 months. Will be watching this thread for some advice!

I put 12-18 months, though Vallerie wouldn't have the bottle at all after 9-ish months. Curtis won't be having bottles at all
I won't give a child formula after the age of 12 months (I understand that some kids refuse to eat much and refuse to drink any milk other than formula so please note I am not judging your parenting style or choices I'm just saying what I personally beleive for my personal children ) (off topic: wouldn't it be nice to just be able to give your opinion without fear of offending someone) ANYWAY where was I.... oh yes... I wouldn't have let Vallerie keep having a bottle after 12 months, regardless of what was in it - she did have the Avent bottles with the sippy cup attachment, but only for a few months. She had a cup with a sippy-lid, which then could be removed and just used as a normal cup when she had the skills.

DD is 2 1/2 and shows no interest in giving up her night time bottle. And I have no interest in that battle right now. We have had her down to one bottle of toddler milk before going to bed.
She only drinks three things : water, apple juice and toddler milk. She refuses everything else. She has no issue drinking water and apple juice out of a sippy cup as has been doing that since 12 months (water, we have only recently introduced her to apple juice).
It is probably just a comfort thing to her but since we have a lot of heartache, tears and pain over her eczema, a little comfort in her life is much needed.
