    Default Was it my waters???

    Hi

Just wondering if anyone else has had this happen. The other day when i got out of the car, my skirt (3 layers) was soaked. I haden't felt anything happen (i initially thought someone had left a water bottle leaking on the seat....but then i realised that my skirt was much more wet than the seat)...anyway for about the next 40 min i had some more leaking....just a little but then that was it. I went to the hospital just to check about 5hrs latter and they said they didnt think it was my waters but couldnt tell me what it could be (it definitly wasnt urine!!)

I read somewhere that sometimes your hindwaters can break but the 2 layers of membrane move differerent directions and can stop it for days. Has anyone else had this happen?? Im 38weeks

I would just keep an eye out for some more leakage. Or if you are still concerned go see another Dr.

wow that sounds like alot of fluid loss. Maybe you should get an appointment to see the doctor.

Once my waters broke I went into the hospital and got a swab done and they confirmed that that was what it was (i have no idea what you would need to ask for to get that done though, sorry) I spose that way at least you would know.... GOOD LUCK WITH IT ALL

Go and get checked just to be sure. My waters broke in just a trickle but I was told by the hospital and my mother both over the phone, that it couldn't possibly be my waters breaking and I would know.

Well I did know and they were all wrong!

Not having been through that, I could just imagine that you would know fairly quickly if it was your waters. Its best to get it checked, cos if you leeave it roo long and it is your waters breaking...infection can set in if labour does not start and you don't progress.

I'd get a second opinion. If youre waters have broken, you need to be monitored more closely because there is a higher risk of infection.

It does sound like it might have been your waters.
Sounds exactly like how mine was when they started to leak.
I agree you should go in to L&D and ask them to test it - they can do a quick swab which will give a definite answer.
You do need to be watched for infection if you haven't started labour so please don't ignore it.

    Smile waters breaking

    Hi,
well yah it does sound heaps liek your hindwaters broke but that happened to me and they did a swab and said they couldnt find a leak etc so sent me home. and im fine. but im also only 30 wks and your 38 so it will make all teh difference.

I would seriously talk to your obstertrician and tell him/her that they broke. dont let them tell you about you body. You know better then anyone.

thanks for all your advice.....i have spent a while searching for more info and have found that 'resealing' of the membranes does occur!! if it is just a hindwater leak and before labour has begun. (in some women this may occur in the 2nd trimester and then then continue to term)

I have an appointment today, so i will definitly be quizzing them about this. It would have been good if the midwife at the hospital told me about this, then maybe my partner and i wouldnt have felt silly about going there (although we know we did the right thing)
