    Unhappy Lettuce & Mayo???

Can someone please put my mind at ease. I was having lunch with a friend today who totally went off her rocka at me for having lettuce and mayo in my sandwhich (homemade by me). Told me I should know better cos I'm not supposed to have it while PG .

Apparently 3 ladies in her office have just had bubs in the last few months and none of them touched lettuce of mayo for fear of listeria etc etc.

Now to start with this is my 2nd bub and I'm pretty sure last time (only 2 years ago) that as long as lettuce is thoroughly washed and as long as mayo isn't made from raw eggs (must be pasturised) then it's all good.

Is that right? She's got me all worried now

Don't worry. Don't know where she gets her info from.

Lettuce is perfectly fine since it was your own homemade sandwich.

The only thing I would worry with mayo is if ingredients were raw egg.

Well that's what I thought too! Thank you

These 3 women in her office appear to have brainwashed her .

Thanks for putting my mind at ease

    Hi..

Like Lozzaaa said mayo is fine as long as its not the raw egg one and i wouldn't trust mayo from a cafe but thats just me, mayo from the shop in my fridge i would trust.

And lettuce is fine so long as it is washed first.

You're definitely allowed to eat lettuce if it's washed, and pasturised mayo!! Especially if it's home-made Sounds like your friend doesn't know what she's talking about! Seriously, you should look it up in a book and show it to her

I love the amount of BS that people who aren't pregnant and never have been like to try to get to you about. I had 3 cans of coke on my DF's 21st birthday and got told my my SIL (never pregnant, not intending on being pregnant any time soon and no prior knowledge, except my 'perfect' other SIL) that she's concerned that I'm having far too much caffeine for the baby to be born healthy
    Enjoy your mayo and lettuce
