Default Did you change formulas at 6mths to the follow on one?

DD2 is on heinz nurture gold & its #2 starts at 6months. DD1 was on a formula that went from birth-1yr so I never had to change so Im wondering whats the difference? will it effect her? she has reflux & problems with constipation so any change is scary for me.
Also has anyone changed from GOLD to normal? how much did that affect your baby?
    TIA

I changed dd from gold to normal and it solved her constipation problems. I am also a reflux mum and change scares me too which is why we're changing to AR formula slowly.

I changed DS1 to the follow on formula at 6 months. I can't remember what the difference is (6 years ago) but go in and look at the ingredients list and see what they add at 6+ months. Hopefully it wont upset her tummy.

I did this without thinking about it, fortunately F seemed to grow out of his reflux at around 5 months and when we changed to the 6mths + formula it made no difference to him.
BUT, he is 80% BF - has one bottle a day only out of 5 so I guess less of an impact.

Yeah, we changed his formula to a follow on formula. I just read the nutrition label and it has a few added benefits for older babies, also, because we started solids then, he didn't need as many kjs as the newborn formula.

Yes we did. And then again to toddler formula at 12 months (I won't be giving her cow's milk).

She, too, had reflux but as she was ready for solids early, and her medication really seemed to sort out her reflux, luckily after the first few months we didn't have any trouble with formula. She was also mostly breastfed until she was 7 months old.

I don't know if it's entirely necessary to change, as the formulas usually state `all ages from birth' but I just felt like I wanted to get her used to changes and it felt right to do it.

    Thanks.
I rang Heinz and they said the follow on one has less calories and a few less vitamins being they start solids at this age.
I guess ill give it a go.

I'm onto FF bub #3 and have never used a step 2 formula.

Speaking from my experience of 2 chronically constipated babies, and one reflux baby, I hold strongly to the thought that if you have a bub with any issues and you find something (in this case, a particular formula) that works don't even consider changing it unless absolutely unavoidable.

One thing to keep in mind is that step 2 formulas do tend to have a higher iron content which is a major cause of constipation generally.
