Correct me if I'm wrong, but from what I've read not even WHO recommend infant circumcision. From what I've read they recommend it for adults, and so far their data is inconclusive.

I take what WHO say as gospel with a grain of salt...They change their mind more that I change my undies
And yes, that is probably right, although I imagine it would be for places where hygiene is not so great like in developing nations?
The recommendation stands only for countries that have a high rate of heterosexual spread of HIV, which Australia does not.
This seems to be the last thing a lot of pro-circ'ers fall back on, that WHO recommends it so that's why I'm circ'ing my son. It eliminates that last leg, if the recommendation does not apply to infants.![]()
That's true the WHO recommendation states (and I am quoting the French National Council on AIDS)
That last part is conveniently forgotten by many pushing circumcision, especially in the US.The same measures are not applicable to the Northern countries. The recommendations of the WHO state that this strategy is aimed at countries with high prevalence, and not at countries with low prevalence or in countries where it relates specifically to one part of the population such as in France or the United States.
A father faces 7 years on charges of cruel and inhumane treatment for tattooing his son. What about his 'parental rights' to choose tattoos for his son?
My agenda is to educate and make sure that all men are given the dignity of a choice. Stop Routine Infant/Child Circumcision.
Which is why I get annoyed when people pull out the old "well WHO recommends"
I really don't care what they recommend on anything, anyone who changes their mind so often (especially on things like when to feed solids, that changes all the bloody time) is too unstable to rely on if you ask me.
And I certainly won't be circing my son because they told me to.
