Question What do you think of your child's teacher?

    Hi all
I was curious to know what impresses (or unimpresses) you the most about your child's school teacher? I'm a teacher myself and I love my job..I feel I have a pretty good rapport with most of the parents of my students. We seem to be 'on the same page' with many things...(for which I am thankful..)
I'd love to hear from your point of view.. what you as parents value in your your child's teacher (or what causes you grief!) you can be as honest as you like..

    ok I will say..

My son is in year 1.

    What I dont like:
    she is very scatty
she is disorganised and has lost DS's homework 4 times.
she makes mistakes in speaking..like constellation instead of consolation.

    What I like:

    DS loves her!
She takes reponsibilty and admits when she stuffs up.
    She really loves her job
    She treats the kids well.
She is always smiling and is always happy to chat to you.

While I am satisfied with my child's teacher when it comes to my DD's education, I could do without the personal opinions about our life that I get continually.

Such as comments about single parents being bad for children as they need both the mother and father at home, that I should have another child because children should have siblings and one of my favourites, I need to feed my daughter more food as she is too skinny.
He who laughs last probably didn't get the joke.

Gosh.. I would be offended too if someone said something like that to me.

Im also a teacher and Im interested too!

Especially as a first year teacher!

I know Im doing the best job I can - with the knowledge I have! I get positive feedback and compliments from collegues, parents and my principal!

BUT I also worry that some parents look down on what I do and how I do it because this is my first year teaching!

I have had a parent go to district office AFTER she had met with me and the principal and we had formulated an action plan to meet her concerns even though these were concerns that had carried over from last year and were not directly related to me as this year teacher!

AND I've had a parent go the principal because I didn't answer a question to her satisfaction at an interview - the principal told her straight out that she can't expect me to answer those types of questions as a first year! So I was supported!

But these little things get me down - I guess because I double think myself a lot anyway!
