Default Any tricks for getting through the night dry?

    Hi
My 9.5 month old has for about 4 weeks been waking up damp if not really wet in the mornings. He usually wears Huggies, which used to keep him dry all night without needing to be changed. But about 4 weeks ago he started being damp in the mornings. I have tried putting him in the larger size overnight, but the 'new and improved' Huggies are a real disappointment--because of the new shape of the legs I can't make them tight enough around the legs to stop leakage! What are Huggies thinking!!

He is fairly slight for his length, so I think chubbier thighs would probably make it easier to make the legs of the nappies tight.

I have tried leaving him in the size he wears during the day and doing a quick change around midnight...still damp in the morning.

I have read other threads about overnight nappies and tried the Aldi ones...wet in the morning (even when I changed him at midnight).

I just don't know what to do. I think it's waking him (and therefore me) up early. I would do anything not to have to change him at midnight because that disturbs his sleep.

Does anyone have any tricks for getting through the night dry when their baby is a bit in-between sizes of nappies??

    THanks so much!

Are you interested in trying cloth nappies? Many people have a lot of success with keeping heavy wetting babies dry of a night with cloth. If you don't feel like using cloth of a night my only suggestion is to try a PUL cloth nappy cover. It won't keep bub's bottom dry but will stop his clothes from getting wet.

Here are a few to try (I'm going to start using cloth of a night. I use itti bitti d'lish snap ins of a day and they are awesome):
    Sandman nappy
    Mandy mac purple nights
    BBH bamboo fitted
You will need covers so check out the BBH Pul covers. They are cheap. Your best bet is to join the nappy hunt (link below) They will send a link with a discount code. Then check out the 2009 sponsers link.
Look for any night nappy made from bamboo and some stay dry liners.

I would have to agree with Kuddles. I used Huggies on my boys until 3 mths ago when I changed to cloth.

Now they sleep better, wake happier and 99% of the time are dry - had one leek this week.

I have never had any leaks since using Sandmans and a good lanolised wool cover.

My boys are heavy wetters and tummy sleepers and sleep 12hrs without any problems.

However if you want to stay with disposables then I would either go up a size in Huggies or use a cheap brand nappy (like Aldi) over top of the Huggies to catch any extra leaks. This is what I had to do with DS2 who has cubby thighs but a skinny waist - always got leaks with Huggies.
