    Default Oh God, the HEARTBURN!!

Ive seriously had Heartburn non stop for about 3 days straight!! Its driving me insane and making me feel extremely nauseous!

Id prefer not to take anti acids... is there anything else I can use to get rid of heartburn??

You can buy Chewy Quick eze in a berry flavour and they are really good... just like a lollie.

The anti acids are full of calcium and are good for bubba's bones.

soory i can't help much as i was lucky enough not to have heartburn. bubs had engaged at 26 weeks and stayed down so i just felt like i had a watermelon between my legs.

milk should help, as well as small meals - nothing too spicy. i hope it goes away soon for you jessi

Rennie is good - it's a bit minty and doesn't taste bad. I'm pretty sure it's recommended for pregnancy as I got mine in a sample back with the 'bounty' sample bag you get at the hospital.

I know EXACTLY how you feel!! i get it constantly too and got it bad with my first pregnancy as well. I find milk is the only way to help besides the tablets...alot of milk that is good luck with it!

The thing is, because it's excess acid that is causing the pain, anything that will be effective really has to be an antacid of some kind. I'm not sure what particular antacids you object to so I'll just give you my tried and tested top 4.

    1. Gaviscon. It's yucky but the thick yucky texture means it coats the inflamed area of the oesophagus and the relief is near immediate.

    2. Mylanta works well too. They have these effervescent tablets that you dissolve in a glass of water. Not exactly a cocktail drink but not as barf-worthy as some of the other concoctions out there (and believe me, I've tested masses!). The results are pretty good for mild to moderate heartburn, though less immediate than Gaviscon.

3.A tablespoon of bi-carb in water. Be warned, this is disgusting. Try to use as little water as possible so you can drink it down in one gulp and have a glass of milk ready and waiting to take the taste away. I usually find that if I use this method, I have to take a spoonful of Mylanta afterwards too. The bicarb neutralises the acid but in doing so creates little gas bubble in the stomach which can be quite uncomfortable. The mylanta pops these bubbles and will lead to a very satisfying burp.

    4. Milk.

The other thing is, besides eating small meals, eat more frequently. Don't go for long periods of time without eating something or having a some milk or something - the acid builds up because it isn't being used.

I hope you feel better soon

Avoid fruit juices......they give you bad indigestion when pregnant....I love them too.

I use Gaviscon. It lives by my bed at night. Works immediately. I swore by it in my first pregnancy and it was the first thing I went to get as soon as my heartburn started this time.
