    Default Ummarr Naughty

Im curious to know two things.....

    1) What things did u do/eat/drink whilst you were pregnant, that are considered no-no's?

    2) Whos gonna admit to it? lol

I ask because when I was pregnant, a family member was pregnant at the same time. She did EVERYTHING by the book and would constantly tell me off for the naughty things I was doing.

    Here are my confessions....

*I continued smoking.....but cut down to just a couple a day (for those who say 'but if you cut down so much, why didnt u just stop'.....its harder than one might think)

    *I drank coffee

*I ate soft serve ice cream....I was craving it BAD and would have stepped over anybody to get some.

My son was born 6pound 8oz with no complications. I asked the midwife if my placenta was gross cos of the smoking and she said it was a bit 'gritty' but she has seen much much worse. The family member who did everything 'right' had a complicated birth and her child was born with a chronic skin condition.

So.....anyone else brave enough to admit anything they did?..Just for fun....No judgement

With my first pregnancy I quit smoking completely 1 month after finding out I was pregnant, haven't looked back!
Completely cut out all alcohol (But I was never A big drinker)
I didn't change my food diet, I continued to eat all I did before I was pregnant, which included cold meats, cheeses, caffeine etc. I just ate it all in moderation.

DS1 was born 9 pound, had no complications, and is now an extremely happy healthy toddler.
DS2, Well I am still pregnant with him so I guess we will see, but we are looking at another big baby, estimated 10 pound at my checkup 2 days ago.

I ate and drank whatever I wanted. I didn't restrict my diet at ALL. I just used common sense and general safe eating practices.

Some of the biggies though, I ate...

    Soft cheese
    Soft Serve
    Sushi
    Ham and other deli meats
    Pre-made salads
Drank the (very) occasional alcoholic drink

I smoked with dd, though only around 5-7 a day (yes it is hard to kick even just those few a day) have quit this time around though
I ate alot of soft serve icecream with dd too.. I craved it!
I had a couple of drinks (as in 1 standard drink about 3 times during the pregnancy) and I have had a couple this time around too

umm I drank coffee with dd and drink about 2-3 a day with this bub too...

    eat subway etc. alot...

hmm there is probably more but can't think of them, and some of the things I am probably not even aware are supposed to be 'no no' things..

no ill effects from any of these either. Dd is perfect

I didn't know most of the "rules" when I was pregnant... I knew you weren't supposed to eat raw fish or soft cheeses, but that's really all I knew.

I continued to eat what I normally ate, so I would have eaten pre-prepared salads, cold deli meats, soft serve, leftovers, etc.

I knew it was one of the "do not eat" foods, but I ate 3 fresh (uncooked) oysters the day before I was to be induced (so when I was 9 days past my EDD).

I didn't care - they were free, they were well prepared and looked after (they were from my then-DPs restaurant so he knew how they were), and as far as I was aware, I'd have my baby very soon afterwards. In reality I didn't have her for almost a week later, but meh. lol.

I also had the odd sip of beer - I don't even like beer, but I wanted it during my pregnancy.
I've now lost 36kg thanks to the gastric sleeve!

The other night I ate blue cheese while I drank red wine!

Throughout the pregnancy I have had a total of... hmm probably 6 small wines and a couple of beers. My feeling is that a drink once a week is probably fine; as long as I'm not drinking every day and as long as I never feel the slightest bit tipsy I think it's ok.

I usually avoid the soft cheeses, but have had a nibble here and there when I really wanted it. And I've eaten ham a couple of times when it was really fresh, the day I bought it. I don't eat any raw meats or fish, you do hear of people getting food poisoning from them reasonably often so it stands to reason that pregnant women would too.

With all three of my pregnancies I ate pretty much the same things although I did not eat sushi.

I also had the very occassional drink of wine.

As I had no idea that I was pregnant for the first 18 weeks & had not been TTC, I have lost count of the no no's I must have consumed. I drank wine every weekend, I know I ate soft cheese, ham, take outs, took asprin.... the list is endless. All my scans appear to be ok & I'm now 30 weeks, so fingers crossed everything will be alright.

Smoked throughout too, one glass of wine and a teeny tiny baileys, every few days had a Thickshake from Maccas as they eased the heartburn, ate seafood, soft cheeses, sushi, kebabs. Only gained 7kgs too, lost it the night I had her and she was born 8lb neat and 51cm.
