Default Calling all Doulas / Potential Doulas

    Hi there

Just wondering if there are any:-

    Doulas or
    Ladies thinking about becoming Doulas

here in Brisbane, who might like to get together and have a cup of coffee and a bikkie sometime!?

I would really love to start up a regular get together for Doulas to talk about Doula-stuff and just to build up a little circle of support.

Would love to hear from anyone who might be interested.......

    Hi Tracie
I'm thinking about starting the training while I'm maternity leave with this bub, I have a year off work so hopefully I can manage it.

Would love to get together with others in Bris, count me in. Am especially interested in hearing how others with little ones (my two will be one and three by the time I'm finished) manage in this role with being on call 24/7 - this is my big hurdle with it as I don't have family here to help us out.

    Anyway I'm rambling LOL.

Count me in Tracie and what a fabulous idea. I am attending my first birth later in the year and would love to meet up regularly with like-minded folk.

Count me in- that sounds great!! I think it would be wonderful to meet other doulas and doulas to be (like me). When were you thinking of getting together? Does everyone else have children?

    Default Would love to meet

    Hello Tracie,

I myself was researching doula training about 6 years ago, but at the time it was really quite unheard of here in Australia. I am now in the process of readying myself for further study at uni, ultimately to study midwifery. Having recently moved from Victoria to Brisbane, my social network is still in it's "development stage", and so I would love the chance to have a coffee and chat with like minded women.

I am also planning a second pregnancy and so the timing to meet experienced and trainee doulas would be perfect......a connection with one special doula is sure to be made.

I am quite flexible with days/times. I am child-free Wed-Fri (9am-2pm). Other days are fine too, but would have to bring along my 4 year old muchkin. Nights are fine too.....especially if they involve a glass of wine. (only exception....I'm in Melbourne 28-31st July)

Please keep me informed as to the details of the meeting place, dates, times etc. My mobile number is 0414 981 597 or just send a pm if you prefer.

Look forward to hearing from you soon.

    Lisa

Hi Lisa, - would be just lovely to have you along!

What do you think everyone ....

How about next Thursday morning 9.30ish?

Bring all your beautiful bubbas - I will have one (the other will be at Pre-School)
so they can all roll around on the floor together or run around the back-yard.

    Is that OK?

    Default It's a date!

    Hi Tracie,

Next Thursday sounds good to me. Do you want to send a pm with address details?

I've just arrived home from a Birth Rites support meeting, and feel really ready to face what the future holds. There were 5 student midwives, which made for interesting discussion too.

Anyway, now off to bed.....absolutely exhausted.

    Bye
