    Default Cold Sores

I have been unfortunately blessed with the cold sore virus since I was a child.
And without a doubt each winter I get them.

Anyway I have noticed that in the last year, they seem to pop up when I take vitamin tablets

I can go some months without taking the vitamins and I don't one cold sore, then the time I start taking them again, I get flooded by the horrible things.

I take Nature's Own Multi with Fish Oil....when I remember to that is.

I don't know if it's coincidence or if there an active ingredient in the vitamins that's doing this.

They're horrible things too, they make my lip swell up and it looks like I've copped a hit.

Any suggestions at keeping them at bay ?

    I've heard about l-lysine.

But do you take them all the time or just when you have a cold sore ?

You're supposed to take the Lysine all the time as a preventative measure I think, Zinc is another good thing to take too.

Is it only when you take vitamins with fish oil in? It might be the Glycine (an amino acid contained in the fish oil) that is triggering the outbreaks. If it is that, your best bet would be to combat it with the Lysine

When I do get a cold sore I find that treating it with homeopathy works a lot better than over the counter durgs such as Zovirax. Maybe you could have a look into that too?
