New maternity leave news...

Today I got my Public Service Association (PSA) newsletter (That's the NSW union for Govt. employees) and it says that the new 18 week allowance willl be on top of the 14 weeks paid we already get!! This is fanstastic news as I was led to believe that you would only be allowed the extra 4 weeks but this is not the case!

Yes, you will be able to get both employer-provided and Government Paid Parental Leave.

You can take Paid Parental Leave before or after employer-provided paid leave, such as recreation leave and employer-provided maternity leave.

You can also take Paid Parental Leave at the same time as employer-provided leave.
