    Default Omega 3 Fish Oil

    Hi everyone,
I have been reading articles regarding ADHD and ADD. I have been told my son may suffer from it.
I refuse to medicate my son with something that can cause stroke and heart attacks so I was looking for a natural remedy.
    Here is a link
    www.althealth.co.uk/services/info/supplements/Omega3.php
Just recently there was also a write up in the West Australian about the same thing.
I thought it might be useful to other parents.
I have just started my son on a supplement so it will work or at least help.
I will keep everyone updated on how it is going.

    I'm ADD.

I tried the fish oil. For about a week, it was GOLD. Seriously. Everything just started working. It was really amazing.

However, it could have just been the placebo effect, because after that, it didn't seem to do much.

Make of this what you will.

I put my 8yr old on Eye Q tablets last year. He was ALWAYS in trouble at school...walking around the classroom, running in the corridors, talking at inappropriate times, making noises. I noticed a HUGE change in him and he started to do really well in class. He used to be the last to finish things as he couldn't sit still, but after taking the tablets he was first finished all the time and the most attentive. I took him off them at the end of last year, but I said that if he can't maintain the level of effort, then he would be going back on them, but we are at the end of term 2, and he is still going strong.

I brought some for Brooke, but she can't swallow them and I refuse to cut them up and smell like fish for the rest of the day, so I'll just wait a few more months and try again.

    Just a hint...buy them online, it's cheaper!!!!

I was only discussing this with a friend the other day. She suggested it as her son is difficult sometimes, and so is my DD.

You can get fruit flavoured chewable things from the supermarket ('Nature's Way - Fruit Smart', I got mine from Coles). My DD loves them and even asks to take them! I haven't noticed a huge difference yet, but little things are getting better. Whether its a placebo or not, i don't know, but it can't hurt to try, and the Omega 3's are beneficial for other things besides behaviour, so its all good!

I've just checked the Natures Way site and that product isn't on it. Can you tell me a bit more about it...main ingredients etc.

yes I saw this on either ACA or Today/Tonight earlier this week. From all reports it seems to be making a difference with the children so let's hope they are onto something for those parents who have to medicate their kids with drugs or for those parents who don't want to medicate their children and just have to put up with their children's behaviour - would be fantastic if nature could do the job for them without parents having to worry about adverse side effects.

that there's light at the end of the tunnel for ADD or ADHD sufferers.

My sons school principal actually told me about this, which is why I started him on it. She said another student was taking it and there had been a huge improvement in this boys behaviour and schoolwork. After hearing her say that, I just HAD to have it. The downside is that for the first 3mths they should take 6 tablets a day. I put Jacob on 4 a day and I still got a big change.
I think people should try this before trying Ritalin (which is a depressant from what I've heard) as it really does work.

angel kisses - Sorry, i wrote 'fruit smart' instead of 'kids smart'. They are chewable 'burstlets' and are VERY fruity. You can eat the capsule thingy, but to me it tasted ,like cr*p (DD who is 3 eats it though), or you can chop the end off and squeeze it in their mouth.

Thanks!! Might look into them for Brooke as an alternative to Eye Q. What does your daughter say they taste like??

Also, how do you do the links like that instead of putting in the entire URL??

Kenz loves them! I tasted them, and they taste alright, very strong and fruity though. Nice tasting for a tablet/oil.....

Haha! I only just figured out how to do that with links too! You type in the words you want to replace the link with first, then highlight them, then click the little globe with paperclip thing, and copy the actual link into the box. Wala! Hope i explained that right.
