Midwife in Mona Vale area to assist at homebirth?

A friend asked me today what the cost is for a homebirth with a midwife present? Apparently Mona Vale Hospital is closing down their maternity ward 3 weeks before her baby is due.

She has had 3 births with nothing except gas and she has fairly fast, uncomplicated deliveries.

She is trying to work out her options and asked me if I knew one in the Mona Vale area and how much it costs.

I really don't know

She is a brilliant midwife and lives in Fairlight. Her normal fees for a full pregnancy, birth and post natal is around $4000, but not sure if you can do a deal as it is not the full pregnancy.

Her other only option is really to go to Manly which is a great hospital but a little further for her to travel in labour. It is a real problem living up on the northern beaches with Mona Vale closing, the only other hospital is SAN which is just as far as Manly.

BE CAREFUL OF HOME MIDWIVES!! I had a midwife who made me push for over 4hours and i ended up with a fistula n i have NEVER BEEN NORMAL since then. She was well-meaning but I am now paying the price. BE CAREFUL!
