I remember when they first became popular in the 80's hearing stories from America about paramedics losing their lives looking for babies that weren't in the car (cause the sign is always left on)... even if it was all made up, the idea of being responsible for someone losing their life looking for my bub stayed with me, and I don't use one...

I chose other. I used to have it up but I don't anymore, the car got cleaned and it was taken off.

Before I had children, I used to think they were stupid and wondered why people bothered to put them up. Even though I don't use one anymore, I am always more cautious if I see one on the car in front of me. If I had one on, I hope that people would do the same when I was driving.

    I've never had one.

A friend once demonstrated how people reacted differently to her when she had hers up though. Most people didn't change how they drove around her but there were a few idiots who thought it was funny to drive like a maniac around her when she had the sign up. Why anyone would think it was funny to endanger a child's life is beyond me and I wouldn't have believed it had I not seen it with my own eyes.

Nope, but I have friends that do.
    Personally I think they're silly.

I will drive with care regardless of whether you have a baby in the car, its not like I see one and think "Oh gosh better be extra careful around that car..." you know?

I was looking on the BigW website at a recommended to buy list for when having a baby as MIL asked for a bit of a list for sick SIL who is stressing over what she actually should buy and it even had one of those 'Baby on Board' signs on the list. Had a little laugh at that one.

If you want to put one on your car go for it, can't hurt can it?

No I don't have one. This is going to sound negative but I kind of see them as pointless as no one really pays attention anymore. for example, I nearly got cleaned up by a truck driver yesterday who did not give way at a round about. I beeped him and proceeded to abuse me and give me the finger as he continued on while I had to stop for him whilr on the round about. All this while my ( month DD was is clear view In her car seat in the back. If a visible child makes no difference, then a sign with Baby on board is not going to do much either...

In saying that maybe 6 years ago it would have as people regarded road rules and other peoples lives...

I chose other as my sister bought me a monsters in board sign with a pic of 2 kids screaming, but I refuse to put it up!

I dont see how they will 'make a difference' in the way people drive around honestly, I think they are more of a stupid novelty item.

If they are suppose to make others aware you have kids on board, be careful sort of thing, I think some mothers and fathers driving around with 'baby on board signs' should make themselves aware that their kids are in THEIR own car...and they too should be careful whlie driving....

Idiots are going to drive like idiots whether they see the sign or not! If they have no respect for their own lives, other peoples around them with the way they drive, I doubt they will respect the lives of children in a car with a sign....

    I think they're cute
Give us that grand word "woman" once again, and let's have done with "lady"; one's a term full of fine force, strong, beautiful, and firm, fit for the noblest use of tongue or pen; and one's a word for lackeys. - Ella Wheeler Wilcox

Yep.... like to think the people will take a bit of caution driving behind me if they know there are children in my car

I always wondered what they were for..
I thought it was just a 'hey don't run into me we have a baby in this car btw' thing, and I never got it because I thought, well what does the sign do to change the others driving?

But then I thought, oh maybe it's to explain why they are driving slow or something?

I still don't really get it, even after reading the differing opinions here..
