Default Urgent help needed - big bed

DS has refused to go into his cot, pointing at his "big boy bed" and wantng to have his nap in there.

    I've put him in.

Is this is? Are we now out of the cot and into the bed?

    Any tips now?

This is so unplanned I feel a bit worried Last night he refused his sleeping bag.

    He's just turned 2.

    TIA

I think it depends on the child. The very minute the big boy bed was in his room, Hamish slept in that. We left the cot there giving him the choice, but he was so enamoured with his big boy bed that we dismantled the cot after a couple of days. Easy as pie.

Some other kids don't transition as well. I'd keep the cot there for a few days and see how he goes. Some kids like day sleeps in one and nights in the other while getting used to the new bed.

He keeps getting out of it. I've put him back 5 times already. I've told him if he comes out again without having a nap he's going into his cot.

Maybe I'll just skip the stupid day sleep - it's become such a pitched battle between us.

I would be celebrating that he has made the transition himself so easily alot of kids are very attached to their cots and it can be a nightmare.

I moved dd into a big bed at 20 months, she's nearly 2 now and have had no problems at all. I needed the cot for bub 2 so wanted to get her well and truely used to the big bed before then.

Thanks to you both for answering me!

Do you know what I should do if he keeps getting up? I shouldn't have said I'd put him in his cot because - now I have to, don't I, if he gets up again?

    Bum.
