Default Cervical Length ~ What would you think.

    HI ladies,

I've posted a few threads through this pregnancy & would like your input once again.

    Heres a little history:

I have a cervical stitch & was scanned 2wks ago at 28wks by my OB's collegue in rooms for the length etc of Cx.
results were: Cx 1cm long, slight funnelling, stitch in place Cx closed. Ob who scanned me put his 5c worth in (really not a fan of him) about it & sent me back to my OB. My Ob said was not worried but we'd monitor.

Thursday gone I was admitted on rest for 48hrs after I had a SMALL loss through the night Wednesday, not even 'pink' to show for it but lunch time THursday. My ob came & did VE, said Cx closed but wanted to be safe. Could be discharged Sat morn as long as all was fine - eg, no contractions, pain or loss. Was to be on strict minimal duties however for the duration.

Sat Morn Collegue Ob ( one who scanned me) came in to (I thought) discharge me. He ripped screds off me saying I didn't understand the seriousness of the situtation & "I could deliver at any moment" that my baby was at risk & that I was "trying to assert" myself over him ...Now up until this point I was cautious but postive that we were on track still for 37wks. HE PUT THE FEAR OF GOD INTO ME & until yesterdaty I was a basket case, every BH, movement etc, I paniced.

Yesterday i went for a US at an independant as I asked to not see other Ob for the scan.
At 30wks results were: Cx 2.5cm long, NO funnelling, Cx closed

NOw I'm not silly & I'm not trying to sabotage this pregnancy, I love this baby & the whole idea of my having a stitch was to maximise my chances of having a term baby. But what do I do with these differing results?? How dues my Cx grown 1.5cm in a fortnight??? they afre so different.

I see MY ob on thursday & am trying to figure out how to talk to her about this. The differeing reslts, the way other Ob attacked me, the fact that if she is on "off w/e" or what ever HE will deliver my baby? I don't ever want him near me again, let alone deliver my baby...

What would you do? has anyone elses Cx just grown? i'm lost & need to find some diplomatic bearings by thurs.

thanks for listening, I know I'm long winded

I don't know if your cervix can change that much like that? I've had mine measured twice, once at 18 weeks, and then at 26 weeks and the measurements were the same, so I'm not sure.

But I would definitely talk to your OB about you concerns with the other guy, he should not have spoken to you like that at all

I don't get it. I intend on speaking to my Dr. It's just a matter of how to go about it. SHe has delivered both my other children & I find HER fabulous...I don't want to be looking for a new Ob at this stage if it all goes pair shaped..

I don't know if it can change that much. But it could be the difference in the machines used.

    One could be calabrated differently.

I would go with your ob, and definately get a complaint in about the other ob that abused you. He has no right to do that. Stress is not good for you or your baby, and he has just caused a lot of stress.

Talk to your ob, about the different result from the other place too. Raise that one carefully, explain that after the ob abused you, you thought maybe a different opinion, was needed, so you tried someone else. OR something, like that.

Good luck, I think if you continue to take it easy, and keep the twit ob away from you, you will be fine. Try not to stress.

    thanks Hooves.

My Ob did refer me for the U/S I just had so I think she'll be ok with that.

Just seems a massive difference of 1.5cm. DH suggested maybe the rest over the last few days may have helped? I'm not convinced of that yet.

So glad my appt is 1st thing tomorrow morning.
