The Calm before The Storm?

Is there such a thing?

Lots of ppl have told me that the baby calms down and the movements become slower in the days or hours before you go into labour.

Now I gave birth 13yrs ago so I can not remember at all but is there any truth to this?!

What are your thoughts?

Yes, definately.

I often wondered the same thing but I'd been induced with my first and ended up with c/s and with my second I had an elective c/s.

With my attempted VBAC I went into labour naturally on Sunday night. During the day on Sunday I was actually concerned at my baby's lack of movement.

TBH, I never really noticed a slowing of movements until I was actually IN active labour - and then I didn't really notice it, except retrospectively speaking, iykwim. I wasn't aware of it at the time, but afterwards when I thought about it, I became aware of it.

But yes, I've heard other people say that and it does make sense that the bub would conserve energy before labour.

hi i had my baby slow right down when my awter broke and for most of the labour madison was asleep if you can believe that i had to have a drip to wake her up and you can tell now that is what she likes to do sleep. she could sleep through anything she didnt even wake up until 30mins before she came out. a bit of a worry but more scary due to the needle and drip i hate needles. so movement can completely stop or at least you may only get the movements they make when they are asleep

My 3 were really quiet on saturday & they arrived on sunday.

I did not feel any movement at all coming from DS during labour. I thought it was what all babies did - I had occasional monitoring from a midwife and she was perfectly fine with the lack of movement - TBH I didn't really think about it until afterwards.

MrsPee, I have noticed that my bub (now due) has been becoming more quiet since he/she is running out of room in there - I was a bit concerned earlier at lack of movement but hoping that it means something is finally happening.

Yes, definately! I was concerned I hadn't felt DS move and I had him about 12 hours later!
