    Default Catnapping Angel

I have 9 week old healthy baby boy. Approx 3 weeks ago he was diagnosed with reflux ans started waking up during the day screaming with silent reflux. This problem has since been solved with medication but he constantly catnaps for 45mins to the minute from 6am to 7pm. Then passes out for 10 - 11 hours of a night.I have been to sooo many specialists and nothing seems to work
(mobiles, white noise, patting, rocking chairs, music boxes)
At present we are trying to cry-out method which is failing as well. Does anyone have any advice or when might he grow out of this ?

I have no advice but wanted to send you lots of my little one is a few weeks older than yours and also catnap's. He sleeps pretty well at night (about 7 hours without waking) but during the day its a nightmare!! I too have tried everything that you have but nothing seems to work. Sometimes he sleeps for 2 or so hours but most of time it's no more than 45mins. Sucks doesnt it!

I've just learnt to go with the flow and try not to stress about it, he seems to be happy and is healthy so im just following his lead. As long as he sleeps during the night i dont care what he does during the day

    Goodluck

I am in the same boat with my 11.5wk old. I had been going with the flow, but he is just so grumpy and then after his immunisations he had great day sleeps yesterday and was such a happy boy all day. I've realised he does actually need more block sleep no matter what he thinks.

So, today I have started to implement the following plan: I think he needs to sleep minimum of 1.5hrs morning and midday sleeps. 2 cycles. I am going to just persist with resettling for every sleep for 10 days until the 1.5hrs from when he first went to sleep is up. I am completely anti CC so this is not an option for us. I am happy to settle him in my arms and work on getting him to resettle in the cot and ultimately sleep through the 1.5hrs.

This morning he woke at 40 mins, spent 10 minutes almost successfully resettling in cot but stopped patting him too soon and he woke and absolutely cracked it when he realised what was going on. I spent 20 mins rocking, patting etc in arms and put him back down. He slept another 1.5hrs.

This afternoon, put him down. He stirred after 50 mins, spent 20 mins in his cot talking to himself on and off. I went in to resettle but he was clearly hungry - not crying but rooting at the boobs, so I figured he needed a feed and didn't push it to the full 1.5hrs.

Have just put him down now for his last sleep before bed. Will resettle him until about 5 and see how it goes. Hmm, monkey is stirring just as I type this. Could be a long hour.

This is a hard thing for me to do because I know he will be happy if I bring him to the lounge room, but overall he is going to be happier if he gets some sleep.

If after 10 days there he is not regularly sleeping the 1.5hrs I am going to completely give up.

One of the tips I've read (Ithink it was in The No Cry Sleep Solution) is to go into the room just before bub usually stirs (at about the 45 minute mark) and be there to resettle them as soon as they stir - that way you are more likely to have some success. They do usually grow out of catnaps a bit, so don't stress too much. I know how frustrating it is

Purplebird, I do try an implement this one, seems to work about 30% of the time, better than nothing!
