    Unhappy Constant M/S is worrying

    Hi,

I'm 7 weeks & 4 days pregnant. The morning sickness is starting to worry me. I can't eat anything without getting sick. The only thing that doesn't make me sick is sipping water (thank God). The thing is at 4 weeks I weighed 65kg and now 3 weeks later I weigh 62kg. I'm worried that this might be a bad thing.

I've tried the ginger ale and biscuits....does anyone have any similar stories or help!?

    Thanks.

    it's awful I know!

Have you been so see your GP?

Keep in contact with them regarding your MS, they may be able to offer some great advice as well as monitor you throughout your pregnancy.

There are other alternatives you could consider, like acupuncture/natropathy/homeopathy if you are interested.

Godd Luck Girl and congrats on the pregnancy

    It's awful isn't it.
I lost 5 kilos in my first trimester while pregnant with DD. Bub turned out fine, they will take from you the nutrients they need. Try to eat whatever you can stomach.
It may also be worth you going to the doctors to get some anti sickness meds, like maxolon. I used maxolon - it helped me greatly and is safe during pregnancy.

try taking vitamin b6 tablets... you can buy them over the counter at the chemist... 2 a day should help settle your stomach, and keep in touch with your GP about it, you may need anti nausea tablets if it gets worse.

I too lost weight in the first trimester thanks to MS, i tried everything & than went to my GP for Maxalon. I had 2 injections in the first day & than 1 tablet every 8hrs after that. It was the only way i could keep food down.

I strongly suggest going to your GP to get something.

I probly can't offer you much advice as I have only come out of a 9 week MS haze myself.

I have so far lost 13 kilos ( I had a fair bit to lose) and up until Saturday couldn't eat anything other than some biscuts and drink some water...... I tried everything!!!!! Maxalon didn't work, I ended up and am still on Zofran so I can keep food down.

I was in hospital over the weekend for severe dehydration (just from not being able to keep anything down) and after 7litres of fluid and upping my dose of Zofran I haven't vomited or felt neaseus since Saturday and have been able to eat anything I want. The doc told me it is important to make sure you are keeping fluids up (at least 2L's a day) and if you are feeling dreadful then go to the hosp......

Also my baby is growing fine and have fantastic results from scans. They genuinely take anything they need and leave you with nothing so don't stress about bubs......... My bubs has obviously lived on me for the last 9 weeks as I have lost so much weight.....

I went through weeks of depression and upset about it and I honestly wish I'd been to hospital earlier.....

Stay strong, it will get better... Not saying it will go away but it will imporve....

Like everyone else said...it can be worrying, but like many people I went through it till 12 weeks also..I thought losing every meal was bad for bubs, my stomach was shrinking & it is very depressing...

However when I went to my 13 week scan I found that bubs was 2 weeks larger than it was meant to be!!!

Remember - morning sickness is a good sign! It means your hormones are raging & that your pregnancy is starting very strongly

I think my MS was at it's worst at that point. i'd resisted getting med's from my GP, but that's when I changed my mind and went onto maxolon. With maxolon on board I could sleep (I'd been awake overnight with nausea) and I could eat a bit more. I'd lost 3kg up to that point and didn't gain much, but I stopped losing weight after I started maxolon.

Next time around I'll be on maxolon from 5 weeks I suspect.

I can sympathise - I had hideous M/S until 24 weeks (yes that long) - although I hope yours doesn't last that long!

What worked for me (but may not work for others) was a vegemite sandwich on white bread first thing as I woke woke up, with a few sips of ice cold water. And then 10 minutes later - half a glass of cold, regular coke or pepsi. or frozen coke - that was always good too.

Throughout the day I would be constantly throwing up. Coke/pepsi was my saviour. It was the only thing that made me feel less nauseous. And it helped keep some food down if I drank it after eating.
I lost 8kg and was eventually hospitalised because I just felt so awful. None of the drugs they prescribed worked (Maxalon etc). So I just had to suck it up and keep the coke/pepsi handy!
Then one day when I was about 24 weeks and was almost ready to throw in the towel, I started to feel better, and started eating more food, and threw up less.

It will get better, it might not be bang on the dot at 12/13 weeks, but you will feel better (I hope).
Your baby will take everything he/she needs from your body so don't stress If you can keep it down, make sure you take your pregnancy vitamins daily.

Try some coca cola. It worked for me. And I checked with my obstestrician and he said go ahead, drink it up if thats what's keeping at least some food down for you, and making you feel half normal.

Don't worry too much about the weight loss. I lost 8kg, and it wasn't until I was about 28 weeks pregnant that I actually started to look pregnant. I'm now 36 weeks and I'm huge! And baby is the perfect size and weight.

    Good luck

I don't get morning sickness as in vomiting but I do get nauseaous (?sp) and what helps me is taking a Blackmores Morning Sickness Relief Tablet.

I haven't been physically ill but I lost 6kgs between 4weeks and 8weeks and I'm still 6kgs lighter than when I fell pregnant.

Your ante-natal care provider will pick up if you're losing too much weight but if it's really worrying you then I'd bring it up with them
