Default 3 week old doesn't want to be put down

    Hi
Only a couple of days ago my 3 week old doesn't want to be put down to sleep. Usually she can either sleep on her own or being put to sleep by us, and put her down in her cot and she'll sleep.

Yesterday was horrible. She just won't continue to sleep if she's not on me or anyone of us. Co-sleep doesn't work either. We tried waited til she's in deep sleep before putting her down but that doesn't work either. She gets very noisy (grunting, grumbling) when she's put down which eventually turns out to a cry. It makes our nights unbearable. We tried every settling technique we know of (swaddling, rocking, soothing, etc etc)

What can I do? Is this a phase? Will she grow out of it? Help!

Have you tried a sling during the day?

My second DD would only sleep in the sling during the day. I made a hammock for her to sleep in as well and slowly got her used to a moses basket later on.

But the sling and hammock were the best things ever. I made the hammock across her portacot (and made one for my 2 year old across her real cot)
When I cry, I am not being naughty or misbehaving; I am not being unreasonable. Please listen to me when I am feeling this way. I know it's hard to listen to me cry. Listen to me so that I don't repress these feelings and turn bitter when I get older. Please don't distract me. I need to deal with these feelings. Offer me hugs and support. Stay with me when I cry. Listen.. Keep listening..

I can completely understand what you are going through. My son is now 3 months but until he was 6 weeks he had to be held CONSTANTLY! I took his to a do a day stay at a sleep centre and they hadnt seen anything like it. We were there for 7.5 hours and he only slept for 15mins in that time!!!!
I tried everything and eventually the only thing that worked was sleeping him on his tummy in his portacot. I know - SIDS and all but you gotta do what you can sometimes.

The bright side of my story is that from 6 weeks he started sleeping 8 hours a night and to this day is an angel and sleeps 12 hours a night and goes down for daytime naps by himself too.

There is hope Just do what you have to to get through the next few weeks. Enlist help from friends and relatives too if you can.

I feel for you and hope it gets better soon for you.
