im at my wits end.....vomit or reflux?

whats the difference between normal baby vomit and reflux?

My 8 week baby is:

*very light sleeper, only cat naps and wakes up sometimes screaming
*gets hiccups quite often,
*vomits, quite often after a feed, even after 2 hours, she sometimes vomits.
*she has bad breath, sometimes smells acidic

So, I thought she had refluc, and my maternal health nurse suggested she change from S26 Gold to S26 AR. She has been on that for 2 days and the vomit has become thicker and she has become more grumbly!

So whats the deal? should i change back? should I go on Karicare? is it just normal vomit?

Hi Katiekitten,

Sounds to me like reflux - if she has acidic smelling breath, she could also have some silent reflux.

I would take her to the doctor/paed and see if you could perhaps get something like Zantac (which we used for DS from quite an early age) to help settle the acid.

ALso, sitting her up during (as much as you can) and after feeding, and also maybe raising her head and chest when she sleeps (I used to put a small cushion under the sheet so there was no chance he could get his head caught under the cushion).

ANd maybe give the AR a little more time - I found it was excellent for DS but there are other options also if that doesn't work.
