Default what colour leather would be best with young kids?

We are getting a new lounge and just have to choose the colour. At the moment, I love red but DH is unsure we will like it for years to come. We were thinking chocolate brown but the ladies at the shop said it would show up finger marks heaps. And we were contemplating a cream colour but I'm a little worried how that will fare with little kiddies. Any suggestions?

I have a chocolate brown leather lounge and 5 kids. I don't find that it shows up finger marks. If they wipe something on it it shows up but it would on any colour lounge. The beauty of it is though its easily wiped off. I personally wouldn't get cream or a light colour as you would probably find yourself cleaning it a lot.

i have a black leather lounge, its great, i have 2 grubby children and it doesn't show up many marks. Whatever colour you get make sure you get a good leather protector and cleaner.

We have a navy blue leather lounge and a cream leather one and the blue definately shows more dirt but I think its cause of the type of leather the cream one is a hard smooth leather (like chesterfield)whereas the blue one is the soft leather and it holds more dirt in the cracks of the pattern of the leather.

We have a black leather lounge and love it! Things just wash off with a cloth with warm water on it. I just give it a quick spray and wipe with a facewasher and a spray bottle filled with water and a few drops of lavender and then just wipe off messes as they happen - easy to keep looking nice... oh and I have three little grubbies! and a big muddy/messy boy!

thanks for the responses, definitely food for thought. They were saying that the darker coloured leathers in the showroom they have to clean every day after al he people come in and touch and sit on them, but the lighter ones, they clean far less often and they don't really get dirty. Does anyone have a light coloured one? How about red? Am I dreaming wanting red? I just love it so much

go the read, there is only a few days left of mumpril so put your foot down NOW

seriously though, we have a choc lounge and love it, mum and dad have a cream one and it does not get grubby so either is a good choice.
we also have a red lounge (not leather) and it looks great and i love how it brightens up the room and is not the 'norm'.
