Default Blood In Wet Nappy... anyone else?

Just wondering if anyone else can shed some light. My baby boy is 12 weeks old and occasionally has a little blood in his wet nappy.

I phoned the '13 Health' line who suggested I take him to the Dr which I did. He had a urine sample which came back clear. He has no other symptoms that I can see... no temp, generally happy, feeding well, good wet nappies.

It's happened about 4-5 times now, and although the Dr said not to worry, I am a little. Has this happened to anyone else??

Hi there - my boy had something like this - he was jaundice and it was him getting it out of his system or something like that... although he was alot younger.

    it disappears soon!

No, it's definitatley not the 'pinky/orange' crystals that sometimes occur when bubs are really little as a result of concentrated urine... it's bright red... sometimes in a streak. sometimes in a blob.

    Is he breast fed?

Is he throwing up something that looks like it has blood in it as well?

Yes he is breastfed. No, I haven't noticed anything unusual about his regurgitations.

Thanks for your thoughts everyone... it hasn't happened recently, but if it does I'm going to take his nappy into the Drs just to get it checked.

hi beaniebaby, I have heard of blood in urine being a sign of allergy. Have you noticed this happening when you have eaten something that you might not often eat? I guess you are not concerned about a circimcison wound not healing. Alllergy is the only thing I can suggest, and I would be certain to take the nappy to be tested if you can the next time. Good luck, Marie.

Do you drink alot of cows milk. I remember reading something about babies not being able to break down the protein well enough or something...

And Maire is also right, I also heard something about alergies, BUT i heard if it blood in the babys poo than he is most likely allergic to mothers breast milk...
