    Default Bacon and Egg Pie

    MMMmmm
I've decided, after 9am decided to mention it, that I'm going to make a bacon and egg pie. I have all the requirements here, only I can't work out if I have to cook the bacon first or not. Last time I cooked a quiche I had to, but I don't know about the bacon and egg pie. The recipes just say "bacon" not cooked or not.. yanno.

    I haven't done B&E Pie since i was a wee one.

My recipe...for egg & bacon pie, not bacon and egg...not sure if that makes any difference...
Anyway, it doesn't say anything about cooking the bacon...this recipe has a pastry base, then bacon strips line that, then the eggs then more bacon on top.
Probably a different recipe to what you are using...I've never made one, to be honest the thought of it is but I hope that has helped

    it's all the same. hehe
My 'recipe' is google, and none of them say to cook, so I guess it's raw.. off to make my pie!

Hi, I have a Nigella Lawson recipe for B&E pie that is just fab, it has a pastry base & then you cook bacon & onion till the onion is translucent, put the bacon in the pastry case, peppering well, whisk your eggs & then pour them over the bacon onion mix. Put a pastry lid on & bake in the oven until golden brown. I have also left the pastry lid off & it was still yummy . Hope this helps & good luck

Hi we have Egg & bacon Pie alot, I have always cooked my Bacon & onion first in the frypan before mixing with the eggs, I also add some frozen corn to the mix, makes it even yumier and I have got stingier with my puff pastry now, i only put a sheet on the bottom and just turn in the edges on the top, I figured it might have a little less fat with only one sheet of pastry Good luck

I don't have an actual recipe, so do what comes into my head that particular day! However, there are some consistencies in how I make it ...

line pie plate with puff pastry
scatter finely chopped onion onto pastry
scatter chopped bacon (uncooked) over onion
crack as many eggs as needed to fill plate (usually 8ish)
    scatter more finely chopped onion
    scatter more chopped bacon
top with a thin layer of grated cheese
    season with salt and pepper
top with puff pastry ... poke holes in top and brush with milk

cook in hot oven until cooked - no idea how long - sorry

I make them whenever we are going on picnics and eat it cold ... the family loves it and it reminds me of my childhood! My mum used to add frozen peas, parsley, leftover veges ... basically anything she could find in the fridge!

I put bread (with the crusts cut off) on the bottom of the dish! Then whisk up the eggs and diced bacon (not cooked) with some grated cheese with some frozen veg (usually peas and corn) and pour it over the bread in the bottom and then bake it in the oven for about 40(?) mins at about 180C. Well until the egg is cooked.

I love egg and bacon pie.....my mum used to make it when I was a kid!

    Yummy!
