    Default Weird Names

I seem to be surrounded by people with weird names, or different spelling... i know this is common now, but some of my friends are between 20 and 30!

    My list includes:
    Kristijaan (pronounced Christian)
    Krystian (pronounced Christian)
    Lyam (Liam)
    Kaitlyn (Caitlin)
    Vladamir
    Liesa (pronounced Li-es-a)
    Kylan

    And their are more...

Is this just something i didnt really think about when i named Ethan!

Wow. The worst I've had among my age group (35ish) is trying to remember which Jen is Jenifer and which is Jennifer! We had a LOT of Jens.

I often get comments on my daugher's name as they pronounce Raleigh as raylee. I pronounce it as rally, like Sir Walter Raleigh.

hi im one of those mid 20's people with weird name (well not weird just spelt weird). im Leighsa -(lisa) and i always had problems with teachers at school and everyone else. it was hard then cause i was always so shy, but i like it now to be a little different.
my little girl is elliot, and ive prob condemed her to a life of being thought of as a boy, but at least its easy to pronounce.

I personally think that weird spellings are ridiculous. I have nothing against original or unusual names (or boy's names for girls - Eloise's middle name is Cameron) but when it's clearly a name just spelled differently to guarantee originality it's pathetic.

Kristijaan's mum & dad have sentenced this kid to a lifetime of teasing!!

Kids nowadays have enough trouble spelling (witness "sms speak" ) without all these wacky names interfering! It's just BAD spelling!

    But.... just my opinion.....

The best I have come across was in America where I was told of a girl whose name was pronounced "feh-ma-lee" - which was okay until you saw the spelling - "female" - when asked, her mother told the officer I was talking to that the hospital had named her?!?! In other words when they wrote, "Baby Smith - Female", the mother thought that was her name! Now that is a case of great spelling but no idea!!!!
(And this is not an urban myth - it was a child protection officer telling me of one of her cases!)

    Default Funny!

I think I posted somewhere else that I found a website that said that a young woman named her child ******* (Im not swearing - thats how she spelt it...) pronounced Ah-shol-ee. True story - somewhere in America! I cant believe that someone could do that to their child! That poor person will be victim to bad jokes for the rest of their life.

    Hi

I know a couple who named their daughter Fuel Sever. I kid you not.

I also have a friend whos name is Rohnda. Her parents just made a mistake and got the H in the wrong place.
