Default I'm going insane from the crying!!!

Well, straight to the point i guess - My 4 month DD just won't stop crying!!!

i can't put her down for 10 sec without her crying and/or screaming for me to pick her up again.. and i'm just going insane!! As soon as i pick her up shes almost immediately quiet again. I litterally can't do ANYTHING at all.

the only time she's quiet is when she's feeding. She will usually fall asleep in my arms after a feed and then as i go to put her down (moving mm by mm trying not to wake her) she wakes up and screams cos i just put her down. so in turn, she is not really sleeping so is reallllly overtired and just generally cranky.

her cries are just killing me and i just dont know what to do...???

It gives you such an awful feeling doesn't it? Like your insides are being wrung out. I've actually had to start carrying my 13 month around in our Moby Wrap again, in the last month or so, because he's going through a really ultra mummy phase. DS was pretty much in a sling or wrap full time until he was about five or six months - it did my bl00dy head at times (There's the odd ranty post floating about on bubhub) but it did change - he got older and more independant. At least in the Moby, I could do the cooking and cleaning and chase after my big girl.
I hope things improve for you both soon.

Honey,..carry her around in a sling,...(I had Rafferty in a Maya Sling for the first 6months,..all day,..every day!)..... and don't worry if you don;t get much done,... Any day with non-screaming is a productive day!

And again we meet Noopy. Is your DD rolling yet??? Mine went through a funny phase like that before she started rolling and once she did she was alot happier she can kind of shuffle around and grab stuff in her reach now and we got her a walker that she can sit up in and play with a couple toys, or the jolly jumper. I think she just got sick of lying down and wanted to be up looking around at stuff.......It could be that simple.
Or she could just been going through a funny week....they do that sometimes and it drives you mental!

Is this a new thing or something that has been happening for months? (yes, I realise she's only 4 months old). If it's a new thing, then hopefully she'll settle soon. If it's been going on since the early days, then silent reflux is a possibility. My ds screamed the house down most of the day, except when feeding in the early days, but it was quite clear by 4 weeks. The frustration of him waking up the moment he was put down was enormous! I have a bad back and he was a big boy, so a sling or carrier was out of the question except for maybe 10 minutes every few days (not much use really).

I thoroughly recommend a baby swing. It's soothing, keeps the baby upright (good for reflux, good for curious babies who want to see things) and has toys or something interesting to look at for bubs who need things to see. You can hire them, or you could buy one. We bought one after borrowing one for a couple of months. It was a real life (and back) saver!

well, it is a new thing (1 week now) and i cant even put her on her swing, play mat, bouncer, basinet (i have it padded and sit her up in it so she has see at a good height and i can wheel it everywhere i go). the jolly jumper she loves but its only recommended she stay in it for about 30-40mins twice daily. actually, i think 4-6 months was an hour twice daily so i can increase that a bit anyways.
but apart from that, nothing works.

theres a possibility she is teething and just wants to be on me cos its soothing???

i used to have her in her baby bjorn every night for 2 months cos of her colic but i stopped that almost 2 months ago!

i just hope its a (short) phase shes going thru...
