    Default VOIP phone - good/cheaper??

    Hi,

Just wondering if anyone uses a VOIP phone and if they find it good? Does it drop out? Is it cost effective?

We have big bills thanks to family all over the world so was wondering if it would be worth it. We do Skype sometimes but get frustrated with having to sit in front of the computer to do it and it dropping out.

    Cheers,
    Bec

We have VOIP, my DH works in that industry!

I have never had a problem with it and our bill is always super cheap. We have called international and have had zero problems.

We usually buy the phone cards to call overseas (the pre-dial codes) because its SO cheap then. i haven't used them through voip though, although i'm sure it would be possible

But voip is so much better than skype!!! its great. and the best part...you can record the phone coversation *cough*, thats not an invasion of privacy at all *cough* (so yes i get permission first of course)

    Hi!
Everytime I see there is a question about VOIP, I can't help but comment!

We absolutely LOVE our VOIP here.. We would never do without it. It has saved us sooooo much money and the convenience of being able to call anytime and anywhere for a cheap price, is simply unbeatable!

We have a standard phoneline with Telstra that costs us $21.95 (approx) and we are with ENGIN for our VOIP which $14.95 and that is as many local and STD calls as we WANT and Mobiles are 22 cents per minute!

We so LOVE it, that we just simply wouldn't be without it!

Of course time to time we can have poor line quality or our line may drop out, but that is hardly ever..! How could you whinge about that when you are paying next to nothing for a phonecall??

VOIP is the best ever.. we love it!

my husband calls overseas a few times a month and doesn't have any problems.

it really depends on where you live though and the quality of your broadband.

VOIP through iinet here. Monthly phone bill has gone from $300 to $10. Allowable Internet volume has more than doubled to 130Gb (we use a lot!). All for $120 a month.

Only phone problem was the other week, when there was a 2-hour power failure. But you can't have everything.

    Couldn't be happier
