Default Were you a GDM mum?

I was diagnosed having Gestational Diabetes while pregnant last time. Is it true babies born under GDM mom will become diabetic and have high chance of liver failure?

That is NOT true.. who told you that? Hopefully not a Dr !

it IS true that YOU now have a higher chance of developing diabetes so you need to be more careful and there are certainly risks to your baby but not what you have said...

I certainly haven't seen that suggested anywhere.

The only risk for bub, I was told, was that there was a faint possibility that heart would develop faster than the other organs and that could cause heart problems. But that was a) rare and b) only in cases of uncontrolled diabetes

I guess in the longer term GD babies might have a higher risk of diabetes simply because it can be a genetic factor ... a predisposition to diabetes might be inherited from the mother.

But that's not CAUSED by the GD, and there are also other, non-inherited factors at work ... like diet, exercise etc. All of which can be controlled.
