Default 14 months old wants to be carried all the time

    Hi,

I am in great pain. My 14 months old wants to be carried all the time, even around the house. Say, I am having breakfast, she has to sit on my lap. She wants to be on my lap constantly. Sometimes she will scream and scream til I walk around carrying her. She doesn't want to be carried by her dad/grandma/grandpa. Just me.Surprisingly enough, she is totally fine playing around when I am not there. She knows how to walk and run around.

I am home with her all day. I don't understand why she is sooooo attached to me. I love it at times, but it's physically draining for me to carry a big girl around all day. My ankles are in pain from picking her up. My whole body is in pain. She doesn't get distracted by any toys or cartoons or anything.

Has anyone been through this? How do I deal with it? Pleaseeeeeeeeee help.

You just need to say no and be firm. If she cries, you need to accept that. You simply cannot carry her around all the time - as you say it's hurting you. Welcome to the world of toddlers My ds goes through phases of wanting lots of cuddles and his latest 'game' is to climb on my back if I'm sitting on the floor. All the best!

Sounds normal a developmental stage, testing the boundaries and things. It should pass, but just be firm i guess.
Do you have a sling or an ergo? I still carried mine in the ergo on my back so i could get stuff done! Not idea i know but the ergo was good to stop specific pain as it spreads the weight evenly over the body.....mine got over it fairly quickly once being carried in the ergo for a bit!
