Question How many breast feeds a should baby have?

Just wondering how many breast feeds a baby should be having at any given age. Is there a chart or something anyone knows of?

Edited coz I just saw your baby is 8 months?

Are you wondering if they are getting enough?

Pretty sure she is getting enough, maybe even too much? She's a bit of a piglet!
I just realised that I don't know the answer to this question. I don't know going forward how much she is supposed to have. I have always fed on demand and never really thought about it until now.

Ah yep. I wouldn't worry about it then? Unless it's bothering you? Mine is nearly 7 mths and I think he might have dropped off like *one* feed since starting solids lol.. I think he is having a bit less? I really have no idea! I just don't pay attention.

If he's gone about 2 hours without a feed I start expecting him to be hungry though, especially if it's been a long time since oneof his 'meals'... he does go longer than that though.

    Thanks for your input Maire.
The query came about when I read another thread asking about 11 month olds feeding, and seems a lot of bubs only have 2 a day at that age. I can't imagine geting down to that few from where we are.

I demand fed both my kids but they were both about 3 hourly feeds until about 10 months or so before they started dropping a feed.

My son is 15 months old and still has 2 night feeds.

My DD3 at that age was baby led, so whenever she wanted it, she had it.
Babies that age can NEVER have too much boobie..

Personally, i do not count how may boobie feeds DD3 has on any day.

Remember all babies are different, so one baby at the same age may have more and some less..

2 feeds a day! Seems incredible!

I guess that would be more for people who have been actively weaning?

I have a friend who has done that now I think of it . basically had her first on to solids totally I think by 12 months.

I guess I prefer to just let the baby set the pace, so long as you are happy though. For those with other commitments or who hate it or whatever then I guess the active weaning approach suits them.
