    Default Ovarian Cancer awareness.**important**

I went to a fundraiser tonight for Ovarian Cancer.
My mum passed from it so its close to my heart!.

Anyway they shared info and asked us to pass it on to 10 women..
Thought I would pass it on here!

    * The pap test does not tell you if you have it or not. There is NO test for ovarian cancer.

    * Ovarian cancer is not an old womens cancer. There have even been 2, 8 year old girls who were diagnosed.

    * It is linked genentically with breast cancer so if you have ovarian or breast cancer it can be passed down.

*you can get diagnostic tests...eg a trans vaginal ultrasound and a blood test...BUT it wont be confirmed without surgery.

    **Symptoms include:

    Pelvic Pain
    Abdominal Pain
    Increased abdominal size or bloating
Needing to urinate often or urgently
feeling full or having difficulty eating.

If you get these symptoms for 2 weeks or more and you have them all or most days, See your GP and ask the question..could it be my ovaries?

It might not be, but if ovarian cancer is detected early 95% of women with it, would survive.

I hope that doesnt scare anyone..Its just important to know I think.
you can find out more at www.ovariancancer.net.au

Thanks for the info, I thought pap tests picked it up
You've got to say, I think that if I keep working at this and want it badly enough I can have it. It's called perseverance. Lee Iacocca

I know! Most women do think they are protected by the pap test.
It will NOT pick up ovarian cancer at all.

Thats why its so important to be aware of the symptoms!
1500 aussie women a year die of ovarian cancer.
Thats because most women dont know till the final stages!!

    Scary scary huh

My mum's best friend, who I had known for 20 years died of ovarian cancer. She died 15 minutes after Ruby was born.

Wow, thank you! I've had breast cancer and I know that it's linked to ovarian, and they test me for it regularly, but I didn't know what the symptoms were. Not that I'll be paranoid or freak out if I get any of those symptoms, but at least now I will be aware and know to tell my doctor if I do have any. Great info!
