    Default New Breast Feeding Study

Im so glad that the new study shows that drinking alcohol while breastfeeding is not a good idea & that it goes straight into the milk 30-60 mins after drinking it.
They advise that should you have a glass ( although are not advising this ) that you feed bubs then have your glass of alcohol then wait at least 3hrs before feeding bubs again !
The study showed many women were drinking at the level they did before falling pregnant because they dont know the facts.
So many mis-truths out there & they have been all shown to be wrong even the drinking of a stout to help with milk flow etc it has instead found to hinder it !
As one of the mums that was shown on the t.v said " i wouldnt put alcohol in a bottle for her to drink so why would i drink it ??? " & i totally agree !!!!
Imagine if any of the bottle feeding mums did this !
Anyways well done to the Curtin University for their great study that helps disspell the myths & let us mums know what the right thing to do is & make informed choices

That's a really interesting study. I've had one standard drink since falling pregnant and that was a glass of champagne at a birthday party. I had it straight after a feed and felt so guilty about it.

Although it makes me wonder if drinking some whiskey will help put DS to sleep at night! Joke, joke....

... new study... on the tv...

What are you talking about? Have any more details on where people could actually find the study?

I saw this it on the news the other night. It didn't sound like anything new or groundbreaking though? Just the same things they've said all along.

I really think the comparison to 'tipping alcohol in your babies bottle' is an exaggeration.

I think Ally meant to say, that if you choose to have an alcoholic drink, the researchers would recommend waiting at least 3 hours before breastfeeding a baby - but the researchers would not recommend drinking alcohol at all.

Sorry if I've spoken out of turn, Ally!
