Default First Sewing Project So Proud!!!

So got my lovely new Singer yesterday and did a blanket this morning.

It still needs to be edged and maybe ironed but I am pleased with it!!

Dh is kindly modelling it in his sleep (night shift)

this one was dead easy, a bit fiddly getting the strips together cause I was doing it from offcuts of fabric my neighbour gave me but have a whirl. this is the site I got the idea off, Tam used it too... I was gonna do the second lot of strips but decided I like it as was.

    wow great one.

i should post photos of the one i did for the kids a while ago. its easy as too. i just used kids hankies (from best and less) and sewed the edges together. then used a piece of wadding and a large piece for the back sewed them all together and presto - a good picnic blanket.

    Wow that's excellent..

I love sewing and I really miss not having a sewing machine anymore (well I love/hated sewing because I had a zillion year old sewing machine that would constantly loose tension and give me sewing rage but..)

Did you post the otherday about thinking about getting a machine from 00 or was that someone else..

I have been saving for a kitchenAid..but a sewing machine would be fab for when I get my BPF because I just know I will want to make my own nappies and blankies..

MAN I would've made an EXCELLENT 50's house wife with all my DIY project and nigella-eque cooking obsession.. um except maybe for the peircings and occasional pink hair and loudly singing along to the dead kennedys and pantera.. what a weirdo!

I ended up getting it from a local sewing shop cause they matched the price (was a 2008 run out price) and they will give me unlimited free sewing lessons

oooh I would go the sewing machine...you can always chop everything!!
