Default Moving to Yeppoon - due in April!

    Hi everyone,

We are on our way up to Yeppoon to live and feeling a little nervous about finding a dr/obstetrician once we get there.. I have heard there is a hospital at Yeppoon but they dont deliver babies - only at Rocky... is this true?

Would love some referrals to GOOD dr's etc and any tips etc would be wonderful.

Liv (14 months) was breech and I had a planned caeser so haven't experienced the whole contraction/labour thing yet.... heck, very scared! I am due april 18.

Anyway would love to hear from you!

    Thanks so much

    Hi Anna..!!

Welcome to Yeppoon!! Have you moved yet? I hope you'll enjoy Yeppoon. It's a beautiful small town to live, perfect for family. If you're looking to meet new mums in Yeppoon once you're all settle, pm me and I'll pass on the details.

Anyway, it is true that Yeppoon doesn't have labour ward in their hospital. You could still opt for your regular check up in Yeppoon hospital, but you'll have to deliver your baby in Rocky.

Are you going private or public?

I had Olivia in Rocky Base hospital, and from my own experience, I can not thank them enough.

I had an elective c/s as, the midwives were all great! I had my own room, after 4 days I didn't want to go home

If you would like to know more, just pm me and I'll be more than happy to answer it..

Thanks guys so much for your replies! We are in Brisbane with family at the moment - hoping to be up in Yeppoon by 15th Feb, excited but scared at the same time!

Hoping to go Public - is the Rocky Base Hospital public?

Are the checkups etc done through the midwives, if that's so... I guess I wont need a obstetrician etc. Is there a doctor's surgery in Yeppoon - any Dr's worth recommending?

Thanks again - have a great day!

    Cheers,
    Anna

    Hi guys

Not long till the move now.. Must be busy packing now?

Anna- Rocky Base is public. For your regular check you can choose a share care with your gp, or just through the hospital. There are some good doctors here in Yeppoon, but I don't think any of them bulk bill for adult. The one that I saw was Dr Wong from Yeppoon family practice. He listened to all my worries and he took his time, and he explained everything to me so clearly. I ended up doing my check up through the midwives every 2 or 3 weeks in Rocky, and she was really good, too!

When I had my dd, they were so helpful. They told me to buzz them whenever she needed to feed so that I didn't need to twist to get her. And there was a night when I woke up with dd on my chest, and the midwive was tucking me in with the blanket I can't praise them enough, so I hope you'll receive the best treatments there, too

oh and I have to mention our dd have very similar name. My dd's name is Olivia Grace Maya and she was born on the 22/10/07. Pretty close, too, hey?

So if you guys would love to catch up once you're all settle, let me know..

Good luck and save move guys!

muminlove... wow very similar name and born so close... what a coincidence! We are trying to decide on the name of the next one.. it's not as easy as the first was.

Thanks for the recommendations, will try the share care and see how that goes

Oh... one more question, how long does it take to get to Rocky from Yeppoon?

    Hi Ladies,

My name is Jodie I've just moved to Emu Park so its nice to see that there are other mothers out there. I have a 14 month old daughter and am expecting another bub mid July.

I'd love to know if you guys are doing a play group or any other mummy and bubby activities... so far all I've heard about is baby bounce at the library - is that any good?

I've booked in to go to dr roppnarinesinh aka dr cashat the Mater Private Hospital - has anyone heard anything about him??

Would love to hear back. Cheers
