Default Should I let them induce me?

    Hi ,

I am soon to have 2nd bub and have a pregnancy pelvic conditon (SPD) which has me on crutches , unable to lift toddler and moderate pain most of the time. (Can get really bad but generally can just about manage it). My Obsteo has suggested inducing me at 38 weeks and on a bad pain day I agreed thinking that seeing as the baby's head is engaged it could be putting pressure on my pelvis an the longer the baby stays inside me the more damage it could do to my pelvis.
I have since read up a bit on being induced and dont really like the sound of it (higher C Sections, baby not being fully developed, more pain etc) and wondered if anyone else out there has any suggestions. My hubby is keen for me to have baby asap as he is away on business shortly after the birth for 2 months and if I had the induction on the agreed date then I would have him home with me for a week after the birth guaranteed. (I have no family here and am new to Brissy so not much other support really).
My last birth was natural and I was very keen to replicate that but i am very confused an I dont want a clinical birth that is more painful than it needs to be or an unnecessary C Section.
    Please help!

    Thanks

I couldn't read you OP and not respond.

It sounds like you have a big decision to make with lots of contributing factors. I'm sorry but I don't know what to suggest. (not really helpful at all )

I just wanna give you lots of these

ive been induced with all 4 of my babys
ive read its more painful, but i didnt find it that bad..although i didnt ever get the drip.. just gel or my waters broken.. all 4 births were straight forward easy births with short labours,

i never had any issues, everything went perfect..

i think you more at risk of a c/sect if you get an epidural.. just my own thoughts, i did use pethidine for pain, only because im quite useless at breathing through contractions , so the pethidine/ morphine relaxed me enough to breathe through my contractions...

i would get it at about 3cms dilated and had my babys with in 2 - 3 hours after that

dont be scared about it.. it was all good for me

I was induced with my first bub at 9 days late, I had my waters broken and then the drip. I had a short labour with contractions every minute. It was a difficult labour but I think it was due to her size and her not being ready to come more than being induced. I was late again with my second but he came two days before i was to be induced.

I don't think being induced is bad, I think I would prefer to be induced and have my hubby home then not have hime at the birth and for help after. But that's just me, also with the pain - I only had gas so the pain wasn't that bad.

    Default Thanks for advice!

Thanks for responding - I think I will go ahead with the induction as really want my hubby with me for the birth and for a while after. I am apparently 3 cm dilated already and my obsteo thinks it will be a breeze of an induction - I hope he is right!

    Thanks again

tbh, my natural labour was far more painful then my induced one. my induced one was just longer. but it had to be done, because DS was big and any later than the 38 weeks i had him at i wouldnt be able to have him vaginally. and i did end up having him vaginally. there was talk of a c/s during labour but that was due to his size and not being able to get him out because he was too big for me not because i had an induction.

a lot of people say how inductions are never a good thing but honestly, sometimes they are needed and the drs do know what they are doing most of the time.

Hi thought I might jump in
I know you've made your decision but sometimes inductions go wrong for a very good reason and that is that your body and your baby are not ready to birth. Failed inductions end up in c-sections - that is if the medical staff have exhausted all induction methods - gel, breaking waters then drip and you don't dilate very well or not at all then it is classified as a failed induction and it ends up a c-section.
But I can totally understand with the amount of pain you must be in why you want to be induced early. Just curious if you have tried things like osteopathic treatment for your pelvic pain? A friend of mine had something similar and she found the treatments relieved the pain quite well.

I had an induction at 39 weeks with my second bub, broke my waters as he was weighing down on my cervix causing me pain. I had a short intense labour, but it only lasted an hour 1/2. I think if your ob is suggesting it then it may be a good choice. In my case I was fine. I had the gas, and breathed through the contactions. Good luck with your decision.

I had a great experience with being induced with my DD - I was already 3cm dialated and had a short labour of 4 hours - ended up having 2 stitches and recovered beautifully

I am having horrible pelvis issues at the moment, can hardly walk and looking like I will be going down this track again. Looking after my DD who is now two - is really hard......

I am hoping my Ob will induce me next week (39w)
