Morning All
I'm sorry if I sound daft, but do SIDS deaths still occur in babies?
I haven't heard about it for ages, only the SIDS safe campaign. I am about to have baby no.3 and I am just interested to know![]()

""In 1988, more than 500 babies died from SIDS in Australia and by 2004 we'd reduced the number to 59 thanks to our 'Safe Sleeping' education and awareness program, but the worrying news is that in 2005, 87 babies lost their lives to the condition," she said.
"It is of grave concern that 20 years on, the statistics seem to reveal there could be a growing level of complacency in the community."
Many parents thought SIDS was no longer a risk."

yeah... my friend lost their 7 week old baby boy to it a few months ago.
Yes unfortunately. Friends of my family lost their little daughter at six weeks, just last year. The rate is much lower now, but it still happens.

yes it is certainly still an issue. You don't hear about it because they dont report it on the news or in a paper if a child dies from SIDS, you only ever hear about it if the circumstances were suspicious and its later ruled as SIDS. It's such an awful thing and we still have to be very vigilant

A friend of a friend lost their 8 week old to it a couple of weeks before Christmas. So very sad.

Yes babies are dying of what they 'call' sids...but whether or not they actually are dying of sids is debatable.
