    Default Pregancy after implanon??

Hi all. I'm a concerned fella from the uk and could do with some advice if possible.

The thing is my better half had her implanon implant removed a few months ago as she gained quite a bit of weight in the 6 or so months she had it in, and blamed it for making her depressed. For the record I didn't mind that she'd put weight on whatsoever, I love her regardless. I was just willing to go along with whatever she decided to do, as tbh she's the boss in this house , and it's her body.
Anyway, she had it out and after had 2 normal periods. It's been 8 weeks and 3 pregnancy tests since her last period and we're both confused as to whats going on.
A nurse somewhere along the line told her that it would take 2-3 periods to get back into her natural cycle, but thats obviously not happened.
The first pregnancy test was only a cheap one but the other two have been Clearblue digitals.
Anyone had a similar experience or any nurses/doctors/midwifes got any advice for us?
She is booked in to see the doctor tomorrow about something else and she'll mention it then, but I love internet forums and they've not let me down yet.
    Thanks in advance

If she has only had two periods, I'd wait for another one or two before even trying to conceive.

Implanon can screw around with women's bodies REALLY BADLY (some worse than others though) and it can take time for the body to right itself after that.

I personally would lay off the pregnancy tests as they just disappoint and just give her a few months for everything to normalise.

Most health professionals recommend that you actively TTC for 2 years (though sometimes only 1) before seeking help, so they most likely won't do anything helpful for you other than tell you to wait.

I agree, all my friends who've had the implant have their cycles screwed with for months afterwards. Jst be patient and let her body get back to normal before TTC, and don't do preg tests, they are just depressing and disappointing.

I tried the implanon a few years back and had to take it out after a couple months. I stacked on about 7 kilos and felt like i had pms constantly. It didnt take to long for things to go back to normal but id say its just her hormones regulating them selves. It really screws them up!!

Just wanted to say, since having my implanon removed about 4 yrs ago, I've had 2 pregnancies, but the first took a few years to happen after it came out.

    Goodluck!

I had implanon twice, the first time we weren't ttc after removing (but not preventing) and yet I didn't get pregnant for the 2 months between having it removed and starting the pill (although got pregnant first cycle after the pill when we decided to ttc)

Second time it took a few months and although I had regular periods, I didn't fall pregnant for 3 or 4 months. (actively ttc)

    Good luck!

I had my Implanon taken out three months ago after having a 5 day period every FORTNIGHT for several months. The most consistent thing about Implanon is that is seems to treat every woman differently ... my periods never really returned to a consistent cycle. I've gone back on Depo and now they've vanished altogether

All I can recommend is keep on with the preg tests to be sure, and take any precautions you need to (if you are trying NOT to get pregnant). Most doctors advise you need a couple of regular periods before you move to another type of contraception.

    Good luck!

I kind of new all women would react differently after having it removed, but reading the responses and a few other pages on the web it seems there can be massive differences!
We went to the doctors today as I mentioned before. She said the same that all women are different and has taken a urine sample to give us a definitive yes or no answer.
We wont find out until Monday with it being Christmas week. It would be nice to get a positive sooner (we are ttc) to make Christmas extra special, but we're just going to have to sit it out until then.
I new the fairer sex were complicated in general, but it seems their bodies are even more complicated . I presumed before now that it wouldn't take long at all. The first time we actually had sex we concieved, but thats a long story full of pain and hurt for us both, and I was thinking it would be as easy as it was then.
We're now both ready for it, and I'm more than happy to wait as long as it takes.
At least we can have fun trying eh!
    Thanks for all the replies.
Can anyone tell me what all the abreviations on this site are as the only one I know is ttc as it doesn't take much common sense to work that out.
