Default Same sex marriage and parenting

Did anyone see Insight last Tuesday on SBS? It was about same sex marriage etc. A friend of mine was actually one of the main couples on the show. He and his husband were married in Canada where it is legal and recently went overseas to have a baby with the help of a surrogate mother. They have bought the baby back to Australia and they are both the legal parents of this baby.
What are peoples thoughts on this? I can honestly say I was unsure at first, but at the end of the day these are two loving, caring intelligent parents that want nothing but the best for their son.
My darling girl Olivia is nearly 5
My beautiful, and very awake Gracie 5 months old
Before you were conceived, I wanted you,
Before you were born, I Loved you,
Before you were here an hour, I would die for you

I don't belive that a persons sexual orientation has anything to do with their ability to be a loving, caring parent. I wish them all the best

I say good on them. As long as they are giving the boy the love that he needs and deserves then that is all that matters. But I can imagine what they boy will cop when he starts school because kids are cruel and so is this world we live in. But I wish them all the best and hope that everything turns out great for them.

If children have two parents that love them, it doesn't matter if they are the same sex or what their sexual orientation is. I see no problem in it whatsoever.

Homosexuality is a deviation from nature and is sinful and they should all be shot ...

    Just joking!!!

I just wanted to hear everyone's chins hit the floor!! I've just been reading through some pretty full-on serious threads, and I felt like being a bit silly. Surely nobody actually thinks like that (what I wrote above) these days???

I agree with everyone else. When it comes to parenting, LOVE is what matters regardless of colour, creed, age or sexuality.

I have no problem with it either.

When you look at all the heterosexual morons who have children and neglect, abuse them or worse, I just think that a child needs and deserves loving parents, first and foremost.

I think same-sex parenting can be a wonderful thing!

While some may argue that a child should have both a mother and a father, does that mean that single mothers/fathers are also in the wrong?

I imagine that children of same-sex parents would generally grow up more accepting, which is always a bonus. Kids will get teased for everything - from hair-colour, choice of school bag or by what their siblings are up to...so having homosexual parents it's just another thing to get teased about...no big deal IMO.
