Default 11 weeks, severe abdominal pain - anyone know of a fix?

Hi everyone, I ate some beans (some is an understatement - I ate a whole plate) two days ago and have been in pain ever since. Spoke to my obst who says it sounds like gas considering I have had issues with constipation during my pregnancy and have been taking a laxative she recommended (lactulose).

Does anyone know any other remedies to abdominal pain from gas, other than a laxative/drinking more fluids which I'm already doing?

    Thanks in advance.

    Prunes or Metamusil

I am with you there, I have been having those types of issues myself.

Charcoal tablets are great for gas, only I'm not certain if they're preg safe or not. The pharmacy will know.

Get some de-gas tablets, they're fantastic. You get them at coles or wherever. Great for any type of cramps, I always used them when I had period pain as they work on whatever is there.. as usual check if you can use them when pregnant, I haven't had a need for them so don't have any here.

Yeh I had terrible gas problems in the first trimester - mostly from eating too much fruit. I couldn't get enough of it. I've avoided super gassy stuff like beans for that reason. If you can, get down on all fours with your bum in the air for a bit - I found that helps me when I have bad gas (eventually it works its way out). You can also try a couple of Rennies - they sometimes work for me as well though you need to give them a little bit go through your system.

    Default Rennie & De-Gas

This is gold you guys, esp the Rennie & De-Gas info. Thanks. I have never had digestive problems before, so have never considered these products.

BTW I have checked and you can use Rennie & De-Gas during pregnancy. Woo hoo!!

Off to the chemist...as soon as the shops open! Am currently up early in the morning dealing with my rather rampant hormones! Bring on trimester two when some of this will hopefully settle down.

I still get a bit gassy even now, but there's a lot more pressure in there (and less space for the gas to build) so it hurts more than it probably would if I wasn't pg. Try really hard not to hold it in, either, because that exacerbates the pain for me. Get yourself somewhere were you can 'blow it off', so to speak, if it's flatulence, and eat plenty of fibre and drink heaps of water to prevent constipation. It's a balancing act, but you'll figure out what your body needs
