Hopefully we wouldn't know what hit us

but good too know that hopefully earth won't follow the same fate as all those movies like Deep Impact.

I think some sorta warning thing would be good but I cant really see them being able to stop a big one. We get hit by heaps of small meteroites which burn up so there is always the chance of a bigger one hitting us.

It is certainly within the realm of possibility. There is a lot floating around space and Earth has been hit by huge meteors before. Not a great deal we would be able to do about it though.
