Default Cosmetics 'increase birth defect risk'

I think that labelling system they mention would be a good idea on things like this.

    Cosmetics 'increase birth defect risk'

PREGNANT woman have been warned to make-do without make-up because it could lead to birth defects.
A study found women exposed to high levels of hair spray during pregnancy were twice as likely to have babies born with a urinary tract defect.

It prompted calls for a new European cosmetics labelling system that would mark out some products as off-limits to mothers-to-be.

The French Government announced last week is was considering such a labelling system for cosmetics.

Prof Steve Field, chairman of the Royal College of General Practitioners, said: "Women who are planning to conceive or who are in the first three months of pregnancy should look at what they are using.

"The cosmetics industry needs to look at this and clearly label their products.

"Anything like this raises concerns, but I don't think people should panic."

we are still learning so much about the products that we take for granted.

it would be naive to believe that we can put all of these things in contact with our systems and that it would have no effect whatsoever.

Well hairspray... I can understand that. It does say not to inhale it, but when you are spraying it directly on your head that is near impossible.
