Pregnancy, Birth & Beyond Books

I just bought my first quintessential pregnancy book "What to expect when your expecting" by Murkoff, Eisenberg and Hathaway http://www.amazon.com/What-Expect-Yo.../dp/0761121323 . It looks very helpful with a board range of information but it is a little boring looking.

It starts before your preggers (thats me) to when your preggers going through each month, childbirth, breastfeeding, postpartum, it goes into the myths of various things. So for under $30 it covers alot.

I saw another book at the shops "Conception, Pregnancy and Birth" by Dr Miriam Stoppard http://www.dealsdirect.com.au/p/dr-m...egnancy-birth/ which looked alright too -prettier- and had different stuff.

So what books have you bought and which ones do you recommend?

I looked at "What to expect..." and to be honest I found it a little too much like a "dummies guide to..." and not a really informative book or one where non-medical birth choices are encouraged.

My fave book was one called "A Labour of Love" by Gabrielle Targett. I also like "Gentle Birth, Gentle Mothering".

i LOVE "Conception, Pregnancy and Birth" by Dr Miriam Stoppard. I loved the colour pictures and i found the information helpful and not scary.

I have what to expect.. and don't really like it, i saw it as being negative overall.

My sis in law had up the duff, kaz cooke, and i always enjoy reading the week by week guide and her tongue in cheek attitude to it all.

I bought "What to Expect..." and used it more as a medical type reference. My little sister bought me "Up the Duff" by Kaz Cooke and I loved it. Also bought one for Multiples as we have twins which is absolutely brilliant and I have "Baby Love" which I find to be a bit repetitive and old school.

Active Birth by Janet Balaskas is my favourite, it's the only one I've actually bought. But I've read heaps - check out your local library, you might be amazed at how many they have (or can get in for you).
