Default Twin Prams - help please

    Hi everyone,

I'm still not sure whether to go for a tandem or a side by side or a phil and teds. At the moment DS still likes to lay down flat and sleep while we're out so I want to do some research on side by sides.

If you have / have used / know someone that has a side by side can you please tell me what make/model it is and whether it fits through doorways well or if it is a major struggle. This is the one feature that would drive me insane - I know that I would have zero tolerance for a pram that didn't go through my front door. Having to use the wide checkouts and stuff while out doesn't phase me - I already have to do that with my single jogger - it's just the doorways that would drive me nuts.

I had the childcare twinshopper side-by side pram, it was I found, to be the narrowist sbs pram, fit through most doorways, but shopping aisles were a nightmare!! (so if you do alot of shopping I wouldnt recommend it) It was however fantastic for walks and went over lawn bumpy grounds so much better than any single pram I ever had. (though I never have owned a 3 wheeler) But I did have even weights both sides (twins) so dont know how it would go with a toddler and a baby, should be fine, theres not that much difference really.

You know Phil and Ted makes the E3 etc where you can use it for single or double. They also make a side by side version too which looks great! And it too comes in pretty red!

I've got the valco twin runabout - which is a side by side pram with 4 jogger wheels (instead of the normal three). It is fantastic, I haven't found a doorway yet that it won't fit through (after 15 months) and it is very easy to steer and push. The two seats can be reclined separately so its perfect if you have one lying down and one sitting up, good storage underneath and there is a separator between the two seats so it makes it a bit harder for one child to poke the other!

twinsmum76 - you say you haven't found a doorway that you can't get through - are the doorways a struggle or does the pram go through quite easily?

Is the runabout heavy and how much boot space does it take up? We have a commodore sedan and our current 3 wheeler (piece of ****) takes up the entire boot as you have to take the seat off and then put it in next to the frame.

We have recently bought a babylove duolite tandem (side by side), and so far i love it! Both seats recline fully, and it fits through a standard doorway, although you have to use the disabled aisle at the checkouts. The jogger style prams tend to be quite big when folded up, but i can fit mine into my magna sedan reasonably easily. You just have to know which way to put it in lol.

I used to have a bablove limo style pram, but it was far too heavy to push, as the older baby must be in the front seat (it doesn't recline very far). The baby in the back has very little leg room also, obviously not a problem for a newborn, but will be after a while. The basket is big, but very hard to access, espicailly with the back seat fully reclined. it folds up very compactly though, and fits through every aisle!

I had a valco runabout duo thing while my limo pram was being repaired, and it was lovely too, but HUGE when folded up....you need a degree to fit it into a standard boot lol.

I have just purchased a Graco Twin Pram from someone off ebay. It was brand new, still in the box, unopened.
I have found it to be FANTASTIC! It is very light (weight is definately something to consider), fits through all doorways, both seats recline independantly. I love it! I can't justify spending a lot of money on a twin pram, so this one was perfect for me. Definately check out ebay.

Congrats by the way, great news!

Is the Graco one a side by side or the tandem? I have a single Graco and I love it - I wish I hadn't bothered with an expensive 3 wheeler and found that first.

Sorry, the Graco is side by side. I don't like the idea of one being behind and like your DS Oliver still has day sleeps. I'll try and find a link to a pic, otherwise I'll take one of mine so you can see.
Edit: This is the only pic I could find, mine is in a really nice patterned blue. It was originally purchased from Babies Galore in Sydney, so they should have the same pram just in a newer model.
