got a call on tuesday to say i could have an interview for priority on wednesday.

We went in, and we were told we do not qualify. Yes, we are obviously housed incorrectly, yes it is aggrevating dp's conditions, yes we count as being in "urgent need"

But because DP has a carer - me - we should be able to accomodate ourselves within the private rental market, even though we are low income. there are apparently plenty of properties we could afford privately, and i should be able to find them for us.
Never mind that i cant drag dave a million places. Never mind that his docters signed off that he has trouble finding private rentals as e is dazed and disorientated when faced with "official" people, and getting turned down all the time distresses him!
I could go out on my own.
Well, why do you think i had to leave work.... he needs a carer... that means supervision....

    ARGH
So i balled my eyes out.
I am so frustrated, it could take 10yrs on the "wait turn list".
and it will take them another 2 months to give me my access number so i can use community housing services. and by that time i'll be giving birth and trapped upstairs in a flat with a bad back, new babyboy stressed out dp, no sleep between the two of them, and i dont know what to do.

I've been looking at houses privately, but the decent ones have like 10ppl with jobs applying, and the other ones... maybe my standard is just too high? i cant bring myself to take a house iwth an outhouse or wood rot. its not hygenic, and nothing i want to worry about with bub.

Saw one the other day full or rot, back brick shed had half collapsed, and there was no hot water tap in the kitchen! and the bathroom/toilet was smaller then my cupboards here..... it was still $220 p/w....

oh and you know what the stupid housing woman says to me? "i was looking for a place for myself and my husband a few months ago, and i had to aply for 20 places, it is normal, you will get one if you try." i've been trying you stupid ***** i've called every single possibly suitable property in the freakin area, and check daily for new listings. And like they're really going to assess a married government housing employee the same as an unmarried couple on pensions? Get Real.

and they assess us as being able to afford $180p/w each - $360 in total. that would leave us with $250 a fortnight left, $150 after bills, $40 after food, $20 after medication $5 after buses to dp's appointments.... yay, $5 a fortnight for soap and cleaners and toilet paper.

Hi, hope you find something soon.
I live with my parents in Maitland as the rent is so high here.
I was thinking would you and your boyfriend be able to move to Cessnock ?
I have found that there are SO many rental properties on the market and the price per week is reasonable.
I dont know why it is cheap rent in Cessnock but it is a bit cheaper then Newcastle and Maitland.
    I hope that helps.

I am about to apply.. I have had a pretty rough couple of years just passed.. I was employed full time in a management position earning good money but had a complete mental break down due to bullying and harassment in my workplace, I had a complete break Down- I was diagnosed with agoraphobia, severe depression, severe anxiety, post traumatic stress syndrome.. I went through a year of counciling and lost my job. In this time I fell pregnant and my fiancée decided that he didn't want a wife or family and left me. I had to prepare for a baby on my own with my only income being new start allowance until my son was born. I couldnt pay the rent for my apartment (it was $260 per week) and was given a notice to vacate so i moved to my dads house for 4 months of the pregnancy. He kicked me out because he needed the money- rented the house to friends for $350 per week. Luckily my mother took me in. Now I'm stuck in a small country town called Bulahdelah with no drivers license, no way of buying my own groceries (unless I want to pay top $$ at the local Iga. I can't access a doctor for my son or myself and I can't get any councilling. My mental health is going down the drain again. I'm having anxiety attacks. I'm currently on the disability support pension at the moment and need to be in a area closer to facilities (I can't catch public transport due to my condition) do you think that I would qualify for priority housing? I can't really do units as it will aggravate my condition. My son is 9 months old :/ there is nothing I can afford available right now..
