Feeding/Sleeping question

My boy/girls twins are almost 7 weeks old, born 8 weeks early and in the special care nursery up to Friday a week ago, overall I am OK feeling a little frustrated at the moment, must be the lack of sleep. The kids have not been drinking their full 120ml bottle and sleeping shorter, so we are up more often. Most feeds they are leaving about 40mls. Due to them having issues when they drink they where on thicker formula (S-26 AR) we have now stopped this and are using standard S-26 with thickner, this has been working sometimes, but sometimes the kids get out of wack and have a dusty eposide, which then they shut up shop and won't drink anymore. Also they have been sleeping almost 4hrs during the day and at night it changes to 2 or 2.5hrs crazy. I am sure in time they will sort themselves out, but they trick me one minute they are doing so well and next it feels like we have taken 10 steps back. Blah Blah I am just complaining sorry but I am so greatful that I have some where to vent and talk through these issues so any advice is greatly appreciated

Hey there its ok to vent and ask for help thats what this is here for!
I mostly breastfed my twins though we did have the occasional bottle thrown in there, I do remember that they got quite fussy at times and wouldnt feed quite as much as normal and woke more often, for us it was just a stage and they grew out of it.
My little girl did the same thing she used to sleep for 6 hours during the day and then up every 3 at night. I ended up changing that I think and actually waking her up when her brother did for a feed in the day and then she would sleep that little longer at night time (my boy was up every 3 hours all the time hungry little man he was - still is really) it took a little time but we got there in the end.
It is very tiring and I would suggest to rest as often as you can and dont be afraid to ask family and friends for help if you are stuggling to keep the house up to date. My other suggestion would be to make up a big lasagne or pasta bake, something that can be frozen and that way those nights where nobody feels like cooking you have something made already.

Hi,

I already replied in the bottlefeeding section but just wanted to echo the previous reply. Also the other thing I have found that helped my sanity is that during the day if and when my girls sleep I will take 30 minutes for myself to watch TV, read a book or go online when they first nod off and then get up and do what needs to be done. If I did it the other way around I would never get any downtime!
