    Default Finding a home

I have several pets (2 dogs and 2 cats) with bub due in a few weeks I am struggling to find a home for my youngest cat Holly 3yo. She isnt going to be trustworthy with a bub and a cot and unfortunately we made the decision for bubs safety to find her a home. I have put up adverts, called friends and family nad no one wants a cat Shes desexed etc and is a friendly cat just a little too affectionate with a baby and shes an indoor cat to make it worse. I spoke with the rspca and a few other organisations and they basically said they would more than likely euthanase her as they have so many cats that need a home. I am at a loss on what to do, any suggestions?

Our local vet runs a cat adoption program. Have you tried the vets in your area? Perhaps some have a scheme like that going?

many vets do have cat adoption centres unfortunately you have chosen a bad time to rehome a cat as it is kitten season and most people will get a kitten before getting an adult cat, try your local vet and see what they say, many vets will try to get them a home but if cant find one will send them to cat haven etc, is she up to date with all vaccinations etc that may help you get a home for her if she isnt already, good luck, the other option I ahve heard a few pwople do this is put a flyscreen or security door on babies room so you can see in and hear her but cat cant get in, good luck.

    Are you in brisbane?

I would LOVE another indoor only cat who is affectionate.

I havent spoken to our vet yet so will give them a call on Monday. I unfortunately live in Melb so bit far to drop her off! LOL thanks for the offer though. We did look at trying to separate her from bub but have planned to put the cradel in our room for the first few weeks then into the nursery. I am also worried if bub is sleeping out in her basinette in the lounge Holly might climb in we put it out to see what she would do and sure enough she tried to get in and even after spraying her with water she kept trying!!

sorry if this seems a silly Q, i know you must have thought about this alot
are you positive you want to find her a new home?
i was really worried about how my cat would react as he was very possessive of me (and always jumps and attacks me if he wants food etc) and has been fine with my son.
i keep his bedroom door shut when he is sleeping and if i remember when he isn't in the room as our cat jumps in the cot (only when he isn't in there)
and i had a bassinet with netting that i pulled tight over it so cat couldn't get in even if he wanted to.
What is she like with other kids?
my cat is generally very very wary but has been great with my son. (he has pulled cat's fur and cat just gets up and walks away)
(also he tries to get on my lap when i am breast feeding as it's "his" spot.....cute in a way but annoying!)
also does your cat use kitty litter?

My friend installed a fly-screen door to the baby's room so her cats couldn't get in. Could that be an option for you?
